Greenacrest's Organization for the Promotion of Help Among the Needy will continue its work despite hot weather. L. H. Dodd, general secretary, says work is handicapped by lack of funds and calls for support to sustain aid efforts during summer.

None injured in buggy and car wreck near Stilesville

Claude Elrod and family returning to Mill Creek township from Stilesville met a touring car on a narrow fill. The driver overcorrected tipping his car and sending Elrod’s buggy over the embankment. No serious injuries. driver bruised arm. Occupants of the touring car gave no names. no charges filed. Elrod’s buggy lightly damaged.

Local lumberman Charles Barnaby is chosen to chair the board of the National Hardwood Lumber Association after retiring from the presidency following two terms.

C A Barnaby of Greencastle Ind retired as president of the National Hardwood Lumber Association at its 17th annual convention in Buffalo. EF V Babcock of Pittsburgh was elected president and J V Stimson of Huntingburg as first vice president. Frank S Kish of Chicago was re elected secretary treasurer. The board will pick next year’s convention city with Chicago favored among Chicago St Louis and Memphis contenders.

Meeting at City Library Keeps GreenCastle Civic League Active

The Greencastle Civic League executive board met at the city library to review work, plan summer effort, and urge donations as funds stay depleted from winter. Mrs. John R. Miller quoted on widespread need and donations, with L. D. Dodd praised for outreach and Miss Wilhelmina Lank reporting reduced funds.

Will Move Bakery To New Washington Street Room

The Pearson Bakery shifts from Walnut street near the post office to the former Robert Hanna room on East Washington street next Saturday. Remodeling is underway and new machinery will arrive until August. M. E. Pearson of Anderson travels here tonight to visit Herman Pearson and family. Herman Pearson Jr. returns from Anderson this evening.

Cloverdale Beats Greencastle Grays In Baseball Clash

Cloverdale pitcher Evans held Greencastle to scattered hits as Runyan Blooded a two base hit and Greencastle later rallied with four runs in the sixth. Final score 12 to 7 with Cloverdale taking the lead early and holding on.

Fairview Lot Sale Nears Conclusion This Sunday

The Fairview lot sale managed by American Town Lot Co of Indianapolis nears its end with 10 of 26 lots remaining. Lafayette Perkins, the sale manager, expects all remaining slots sold by Sunday evening, with free bus service to Fairview on south Indiana street to facilitate viewing. If unsold, the sale may extend for several days.

Horn Conquers Road Noise in Greencastle

A Greencastle motorist found his horn failed just as he needed it. He swapped to a tin dinner horn and now uses it to clear the road. DePauw coach Thomas A. Bogle visits town and forecasts one of the largest football squads in school history next fall. He plans to return to Ann Arbor then Detroit for summer.
