R A Ogg has been elected to the Alumni Council at Indiana University commencement. The council governs the Alumni Association with seven members elected annually to three year terms.
Robbers pried open a window at the East Washington Street High Point Oil Co. station Thursday night and stole most items inside including auto accessories tobacco candy chewing gum cigars and gloves. Marshal Braden noted 1500 cigars about 4000 cigarettes 8 candy boxes 5 chewing tobacco packages 50 tire patching cans gloves and bulbs were taken. pennies and tires/tubes left. The theft was found Friday morning when attendant Ralph Hill reported to the marshal.
Henry Nichols of Putnam County is free on $2,500 bond after arrest on entering the E F B Owen general store at Amo. He awaits trial in Hendricks County Circuit Court. Nichols, a former Fillmore high school student, lives with his parents on their farm east of Mt. Meridian on the National Road.
The Republican national convention in Kansas City nominated Senator Curtis this afternoon as the party's vice presidential candidate. He will join Herbert Hoover on the GOP ticket for the fall campaign.
Treasurer Ed Walls delivered 16103 to the state treasury in Indianapolis as part of spring tax installments. Monroe advisory board appropriated 9500 for a new six room Bainbridge school. J W Rawley traveled from Brazil to attend a temporary injunction petition hearing against S A Hays. Misses Ona Hartley Edith Swift and Jessie Pierce visited Roachdale friends.

The first semi annual distribution of spring taxes to township trustees school and city treasurers by the county auditor will probably be made Monday. Deputy auditor W O Clodfelter and Miss Kathryn Miller carried the settlement report to the state auditor in Indianapolis Friday for approval. If approved the distribution will likely occur Monday.
Monon train number 4 known as the midnight Chicago flyer hit an automobile at the Murdock crossing three miles north of Bedford Wednesday night. The crew searched for victims for 20 minutes but found none. Officials suspect a tow truck may have placed the car on the track to fraudulently claim insurance.
Two armed bandits robbed Alec Keck, a New Maysville store and gas station proprietor, of about $50 late Sunday night. They came to his residence claiming a car shortage and used a local living area as a ruse before fleeing on the road. No trace has been found.
Miss Amelia Earhart and Miss Mabel Bell prepare trans Atlantic attempts from Trepassey and Harbor Grace with two planes. Earhart undecided on destination, may fly to Azores or Ireland once weather allows. Stultz Gordon and Argles prepare crews for possible Azores or Ireland hops as conditions improve.
Forecasts show fair to moderate weather with sunrise at 4 15 and sunset at 7 15. Clear skies likely with mild temperatures and light winds.
Kansas City June 15 Senator Charles Curtis of Kansas was nominated for vice president as running mate for Herbert Hoover at the Republican national convention. The nomination comes as the convention debates the party's choice after Lowden's withdrawal from the race.
At the Kansas City convention Herbert Hoover secured the nomination after a tense session that ended with 837 votes in his favor. John L. McNabb of California delivered the nomination speech, igniting a lasting show of Hoover support as Indiana backed Watson and Lowden withdrew. A Monon railroad accident in Ladoga left conductor J C Hensley with a dislocated shoulder.
