A Washington Township man sought $3,500 for services from Matilda and Samuel Rightsell. The jury awarded $275 in the case, noting the right time window of 4 to 8 p.m. Friday evening.
In Putnam County the Bull Moosers Progressives meet in the court room at the courthouse at 10 this morning to nominate candidates for county offices.
In Washington the arson case linked to witness Dr Wolfe likely will not appear in the First National Bank of Shelbyurn suit against Charles A Knight of Reelsville. The development centers on arson charges and potential testimony impact.
About 100 Progressives gathered in Greencastle at 10 a.m. to nominate a full county slate led by Ulysses Young for representative and Frank Scott for sheriff. The convention adopted resolutions backing the national and Indiana platforms, opposing amalgamation with other parties, and calling independent voters to support the ticket for efficient government. Propositions were presented by Jackson Boyd and Ernest Cook with Fred Bryan. Otis Gulley and W D Hedricks slated to speak later.
James Rightsell of Washington township sought 3500 from Matilda and Samuel Rightsell for farm care. The jury awarded 275 total, with 175 against Samuel and 100 against Matilda, after seven days of testimony and offers to compromise.
William Wetz, known as the Putnam County appleman, leases a large south city building to start a fruit packing establishment with grading and packing machinery. He has acquired orchards, sprays trees quarterly, and anticipates a big crop but blight may reduce this year’s yield to about one third.
A special Vesper service is planned in Meharry Hall Sunday at 6 pm. Dr. A. B. Storms of Indianapolis will give brief remarks followed by a sacred concert.
The arson conviction of Dr D W Wolfe of Washington removes a key witness from a major equity suit in Putnam County moved to Brazil. First National Bank of Shelburn vs Charles A Knight Mary J Knight and John S Knight seeks to set aside a deed. Trial set for June 11 in Brazil.
A feature of DePauw commencement is a concert by pupils of the School of Music Hall on Monday afternoon. The program includes Pauline Taylor, Robert Taylor, Lois Brown, Olda Randel, Ona Shindler, Edith Thompson, Flossie Allen, Leslie Miller, Bernice Pafford, Clarence Ball and Mary Henderson. After the program twenty three Public School Methods students will receive certificates. DePauw Music school seniors will receive diplomas at the regular graduation on Wednesday.
