School Board Faces Injunction Over Junior High Plans

Opponents vow to pursue legal action as the board moves to advertise the bond issue for a new junior high school. They pledge to use all time necessary to challenge the project.

Jackson Boyd, attorney for several parties, says the 1915 act allowing the school board to issue bonds for a new junior high is unconstitutional without council consent. An injunction will be pursued when the board advertises the bond sale, with possible early filing of the suit.

Jefferson and Mill Creek Commencement Exercises

The Jefferson and Mill Creek townships announce combined commencement exercises at Belle Union High School on Saturday evening June 13. Rev. Bert DeWitt Beck to deliver the address. DePauw selects captains for baseball and track teams

William Lewis was elected captain of next season’s DePauw baseball squad by club members in the college gym. James House was chosen to pilot the 1915 DePauw track team. Both received athletic distinction with several players earning “D” awards from the Athletic Association.

Governor to Meet Editors on Special Car

A special car carrying members of the I B E A will depart Indianapolis Friday morning June 25 at 10 o clock to leave Green Castle on a special train. This governor will be with editors during the trip.

Committee Chosen to Arrange Entertainment for Indiana Editorialists

Mayor J Walter Cooper named a Greencastle committee to plan the entertainment for about 150 Indiana Democratic Editorial Association members visiting on Thursday June 25. The group will stay about an hour. Committee members are Harry M Smith Gautier Andrew Hanna James L Randel and Charles Arnold.

Governors Ralston to Tour Greencastle with Democrats

Governor and Mrs. Samuel Ralston join Indiana Democratic Editorial Association in Greencastle on Friday June 25. The party departs Indianapolis at 10 AM on special cars, arrives about 11 30, then transfers by Monon train to Evansville, with 150 guests expected and a one hour visit for lunch.

Autoist Who Ran Down Tug Wilson Arrested

James A. Bell an Elkhart businessman who drove the car that injured Willis Wilson of Mishawaka is in Mishawaka city court on a $1,000 bond for Saturday trial. Police say the speeding charge may become manslaughter if Wilson dies. Bell and J W Oliver of Elkhart rode in a vehicle that wrecked after hitting a bridge. Bell collapsed later in Elkhart. Tug Wilson, DePauw graduate, 1915, has many friends in the area.

Death of Mrs Willis G Neff in Terre Haute

The death of Mrs Willis G Neff, formerly of Greencastle and widow of Willis G Neff, occurred Thursday at 3 30 AM at her daughter Jesse now Mrs George Morris in Terre Haute. She had been ill for months, leaving two sons Dr James Neff of Sullivan and Duff Neff in California. Funeral at the Morris home Friday at 4 PM with burial in Sullivan. Mrs Albert Grissom of Cloverdale visited the city today.

Bridge repair agreed after line inspection at Staley Bridge

County commissioners from Morgan and Putnam met at the Morgan county line to inspect the condemned Staley Bridge on Mill Creek township. They agreed to repair the bridge. A Progressive Convention in Greencastle Saturday June 6 invites all, with Otis E. Gulley and other speakers at 1 p.m. and a forenoon nominations session.
