He jokes about DePauw University productions, borrowing riding crops, and mock political feuding with President Oxnam, plus Founders Day attendance and Mrs. Murphy’s muzzle factory duties.
The Fifth district rally of the American Legion will be held in Danville on Sunday February 23 with Forest A Harness department commander and Pleas E Greenlee department adjutant as principal speakers. Topics include Fifth district plans and the Legion program for the disabled.
Republican painter Ernest Sellers announces his candidacy for the Greencastle township assessor nomination. He resides just northeast of town and seeks the local office.
Arthur Plummer a former Green Castle resident now in Warren township has announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for county surveyor. He has previously served as county surveyor and is well acquainted with the duties of the office.
The Farmers Institute of Marion and Floyd townships met in Fillmore high school and drew a large audience. J P Priggs spoke on farmer expectations and cooperative buying, with Mrs Vesta S Perdue delivering two talks on improving country life. Harold Storm was elected president and local officers were named. A public dinner followed with prizes for crops, poultry, and crafts. Music and a lecture by Dr C Howard Taylor closed the event.
Indiana High School Athletic Association releases sectional regional and state basketball draw details. Greencastle Cloverdale open sectional February 28 with Reelsville Fillmore in upper bracket while Putnamville Roachdale Russellville Bainbridge in lower bracket. Officials Glenn Adams Lee Quillan.
Dan Lamont of Chicago resigns as Loyola University head football coach to take the head line coach position at Washington University under Jimmy Phelan. The dispatch notes the move in a brief Chicago transfer item based on an International Illustrated News photo.
The Junior Cubs coached by Tick Crawley routed the Ben Davis Juniors in a local gym. Black opened scoring and led by example as Ben Davis struggled from the field, trailing 16 to 1 at halftime while Hammond and Gibbs anchored defense and scoring.

In Greencastle plans are for a moving picture show in the Donner block rooms vacated by A. B. Hanna. Ninety candidates will be initiated into the Elks lodge tomorrow night, boosting membership to over 300. Allen Brothers add a new front to their east Washington street business, vacated by Model Clothing. Mr and Mrs Bruce Krazier of the city move to Great Falls Montana.
Henry Thompson Putnam County census supervisor announces three local men Paul Grimes A A Haudek and Glen Marks as census enumerators. Additional appointments will be made as more candidates seek posts.
Spry at 103 Valentine Penrose of near Nashville Indiana marked his 103rd birthday on February 14. Born in 1827 in Belleville County Ohio he is a farmer and fox hunter who has grown tobacco for eighty years. He has lived in a log cabin since 1887, a dwelling built in 1845.
The third in a series of vocational agricultural department meetings at Green Castle High School is set for Tuesday February 24 at 730 pm. Swine Night features Fr W Miller county agent as chair with talks on worm effects in logs post mortem worm infested pig by Dr T A Sigler Hoosier Swine Sanitation System by Grafton Londen Sr Producing ten litters in 180 days by L A Dicks Fillmore hog types in demand by markets today by C M Thomas Morton. Miller presides over tax problems discussion.
A group of about twenty Putnam county farm boys and fathers travel to Lebanon with Greencastle vocational agriculture teacher Martin M. Bassett Elvin Harlan and Robert H. Stevenson to tour the Indiana Condensed Milk plant and nearby dairy farms.
Greencastle girls pushed Ben Davis to a 18 to 15 loss in a tight gym matchup. Seabee led a late rally to within one point as Schiel scored five first half baskets and a free throw before Marshall and the visitors shut down the rally.

DePauw University celebrated Founders Day with a full day program including alumni council meetings and officer reports. Alumni Secretary Henry McLean resigned due to relocation and new leadership was arranged while notes highlighted continued support from DePauw’s benefactors and a speech stressing moral education. Dr. Michael M. Stolz received the Goodwin Memorial cane at the alumni gathering though he could not attend in person.
