Institute Well Attended at Fillmore Farmers Institute

The Farmers Institute of Marion and Floyd townships met in Fillmore high school and drew a large audience. J P Priggs spoke on farmer expectations and cooperative buying, with Mrs Vesta S Perdue delivering two talks on improving country life. Harold Storm was elected president and local officers were named. A public dinner followed with prizes for crops, poultry, and crafts. Music and a lecture by Dr C Howard Taylor closed the event.

Moving picture show planned in vacant Donner block rooms

In Greencastle plans are for a moving picture show in the Donner block rooms vacated by A. B. Hanna. Ninety candidates will be initiated into the Elks lodge tomorrow night, boosting membership to over 300. Allen Brothers add a new front to their east Washington street business, vacated by Model Clothing. Mr and Mrs Bruce Krazier of the city move to Great Falls Montana.

Spry at 103 Celebrates Birthday in Indiana Log Cabin

Spry at 103 Valentine Penrose of near Nashville Indiana marked his 103rd birthday on February 14. Born in 1827 in Belleville County Ohio he is a farmer and fox hunter who has grown tobacco for eighty years. He has lived in a log cabin since 1887, a dwelling built in 1845.

Girls Bow To Ben Davis In Close League Contest

Greencastle girls pushed Ben Davis to a 18 to 15 loss in a tight gym matchup. Seabee led a late rally to within one point as Schiel scored five first half baskets and a free throw before Marshall and the visitors shut down the rally.

DePauw Founders Day Honors Alumni Council and Officers

DePauw University celebrated Founders Day with a full day program including alumni council meetings and officer reports. Alumni Secretary Henry McLean resigned due to relocation and new leadership was arranged while notes highlighted continued support from DePauw’s benefactors and a speech stressing moral education. Dr. Michael M. Stolz received the Goodwin Memorial cane at the alumni gathering though he could not attend in person.
