Clinton roared back in the final ten minutes to beat Greencastle 33 to 26 on the Clinton floor. Stone led Greencastle with 18 points on seven field goals and four free throws while Ave Gatherum and Sungalia paced Clinton with four baskets and three free throws each. Antonini and Brown dominated under the small floor as the Cubs were hampered by size and fouls.
Alleging assault and battery, Ohio Wesleyan student Jim Epting filed affidavit against Green Castle liveryman Harry Woods. The dispute arose after Epting refused to pay $6 for horse use and damage, with Woods allegedly throwing a brick and sustaining minor injuries in the melee. Trial was scheduled for Friday before Mayor Denman.
William Riddle of Indianapolis was jailed for intoxication and sent to the State Farm. He fled soon after arrival and was recaptured in Brazil. Judge Hughes later sentenced him to 1 to 4 years at the State Reformatory for running away, turning a 20 day term into at least a year behind bars. The case ends with Riddle admitting a mistake.
Mrs. Donner and Mr. Frank Donner are to be honored guests at a small formal dinner hosted by Prof. and Mrs. Gustave Arlt at 511 East Seminary Street. Mrs. John Akers of Lena underwent appendicitis surgery at Putnam County Hospital this afternoon, with Dr. Tomas B. Noble Jr. of Indianapolis assisting Dr. W. M. McGaughey.

He notes the Federal Board for hospitalization will study briefs, will decide later, and will dispatch investigators to compare proposed sites with a decision to be announced. Johnson vows to stay in touch and assist.
Zachariah Hayes a World War veteran and Spanish American War soldier died Sunday at 12 20 AM at his Rockville Road home from a stroke suffered Saturday morning. He was 50, survived by widow Mattie, two sisters in Indianapolis, two half sisters in city and two Yopp relatives. Funeral Tuesday at 2 PM at McCurry Funeral Home with Rev. Victor L. Raphael. burial Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may view at McCurry anytime.
County health officer John A. Egan reports a scarlet fever epidemic in Carpentersville north Putnam county with nearly all Carpentersville School children exposed. Visitors Miss May Wade of Indianapolis and Miss Lida Roberts of Coatesville stayed with Mrs. George Raines. Ex mayor Charles McGaughey and Wilbur Donner returned from Washington to advocate a Veterans hospital for Greencastle.
An automobile owned by J. W. Bonham of Kokomo traveling salesman was in a collision Saturday night at the junction of Roads 40 and 40 with a car from Rockville. Bonham’s car was towed to the Franklin street garage for front end repairs. The other vehicle continued on. No injuries were reported.
James Black aged 21 was arrested Saturday night at Wallace Junction by Sheriff Edward Mitelorne. He faced burglary charges in the Harold Pruitt store theft at Fillmere and pleaded guilty in Putnam circuit court. Black, linked to Karl Harmon Karl Seater William Patterson and Weary Nietjols, received a three to ten year sentence along with the others already jailed.
A sequence of four Tuesday feeding meetings at Greencastle High School agriculture department begins February 11. Farmers are invited to join discussions led by experts including M. M. Bassett and H. L. Royce on dairy, calf work, and better feeding practices with local county participation.
Lloyd Messersmith, DePauw graduate and Shortridge high school basketball coach, is named the new addition to DePauw university's physical education department. A broader reorganization follows Coach Hughes resignation. Donovan Moffett becomes department head with Raymond Neal in football and L C Buchheit in track. Messersmith plans to handle varsity baseball and freshman football and basketball upon joining in September.
Der G Bromley Oxnam, president of DePauw University, addressed Indiana Reformatory inmates on World Peace. More than 1900 prisoners attended Sunday chapel where Oxnam urged that war is inevitable and called youth to strive for better understanding among nations to end war.
Bishop Edwin Holt Hughes former DePauw president and now Methodist bishop spoke to the young peoples meeting on Sunday night. His sermon based on Psalm 25 warned of three natural sins of youth the sense of temporariness independence and obligation.
