Mrs Ellen Steele Detro aged 89 widow of Squire Detro died Tuesday afternoon at her son Robert Detro’s home two miles south of Fincastle after a long illness. She leaves a son and a brother Robert Steele of Greencastle. Funeral at her son’s home Thursday at 9 30 in the morning with Rev Fifer in charge. Burial in Skillman cemetery.

Fog blamed in car train crash near Hammond
In foggy conditions in the Dunes district a car carrying Dr. Charles H. Seymour and two others was struck by a South Shore train in Hammond. Dr. Seymour, 50, a Michigan City dentist and Democratic leader, died. J B Faulkner publisher and EF Moran druggist were severely hurt. Thelma Cotton, 25, and Henrietta Jordan, 27, died in Gary when their car slid and hit an iron post.

Deputies and Prisoners Vanish On Pendleton Route
A state wide search is under way in Lafayette Indiana for two Deputy Sheriff and two prisoners missing since leaving for Pendleton reformatory.
