Mrs Harlan Follows Husband In Death In Stilesville

Mrs Rose Ann Harlan died at her home in Stilesville Sunday night at 11 after heart trouble five days after her husband Robert C Harlan died last Tuesday. Surviving are six children Dora Dicks Oklahoma W C Harlan New Mexico Minnie B Trester Brazil Elda Cooper Clayton Floy Hugg Texas and Elvin Harlan dairyman east of Greencastle. Funeral services were held at 2 30 PM at the Christian Church in Stilesville with interment in Stilesville cemetery.

Death Calls Clay Bridges Rural Farmer Dies at 65

Clay Bridges 65 prominent farmer living 12 miles north of Greencastle on Crawfordsville Road died Sunday night after over a year of stomach trouble. He leaves a widow four sons and one daughter. Funeral scheduled for Wednesday.

Dr. W. R. Hutcheson said Saturday marked the busiest day in his career with 121 patient calls. Most treated were influenza cases, and he noted flu patients appear to be increasing as colder weather arrives.

End Water Arguments in U S Court

Indianapolis Dec 24 Oral arrangements in the suit of the Green Castle Water Works Company to obtain an interlocutory injunction against enforcement of an order of the public service commission were completed yesterday in Federal court. Three federal judges presided and will decide after Christmas holidays. Judges Baltzell Slick and Alschuler heard the case. briefs were filed by both sides.

Autos Collide On North Jackson Street Collision

Automobiles driven by Elmer Mc Gaughey and Ross Hood collided on north Jackson street Sunday. Both cars were damaged. Mrs. Hood was slightly injured. Hood, who works at Morrison Bros. in this city, was accompanied by his family while Mc Gaughey was alone.

Putnam County Hospital Lights For Christmas Eve

The Putnam county hospital will observe a candle lighting at six this evening as a long standing Christmas custom. Candles in all windows create a festive view. Two Christmas trees donated by the Boy Scouts and First Ward school children adorn sun parlors. Glen Club and First Ward children contributed song performances for patients. Albert King, a local taxi driver, was fined twenty three dollars and fifty cents by Justice Robert H Newgent for assault and battery after a taxi war dispute with Lovell Knauer.

John M Coulter Dies at 77 Former Indiana Lake Forest President

John M Coulter a former president of Indiana University and Lake Forest College Illinois died at his home Glenwood Lodge Yonk ers New York from arteriosclerosis He was 77 and had been with the Boyce Thompson Institute for botanical research since leaving the University of Chicago faculty in 1925.

HoldUp at Zook Station Nets 50.20 In Cash

Two bandits robbed the C E Zook filling station at State Road 48 and National Road early Sunday, taking 50.20 and a few cigarettes after forcing the clerk to lie behind the counter. They fled in an automobile, headed west, with police criticized for slow response. The robbers were described as a tall and a short man about 5 feet 2 inches who handled the pistol.

Five Die In Flint Michigan Car Crash

A car carrying seven people from Flint crashed into a ditch and tree near Holly Michigan. Five died at the scene and two were hospitalized with serious injuries including Earl Vallaire who was near death at Flint Hospital.
