Governor Ed Jackson will not issue Christmas paroles to inmates in state prisons. Secretary Gaylord Morton said granting parols to some inmates would be unfair to the majority. The Governor has not followed precedents of other governors who granted paroles during holidays.
Strangers in a new Hupmobile with Indiana plates were seen scouting in Brazil Wednesday after a noon Clinton bank heist. They parked near Pollom auto and peered into the Davis Trust bank building before driving off toward the National road, suggesting a prior plan to strike here but choosing safer banks.

Mrs Amanda Elizabeth Kivett 59 longtime operator of Hall's telephone exchange died at home from heart trouble. Her husband John W Kivett died sixteen years ago. Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 30 p m in the Christian Church Hall with burial at Poplar Grove.
Fire officials urge steel scaffolding for large buildings after a million dollar blaze gutted the nearly finished Riverside Church on Riverside Drive. The interior and adjacent structures suffered over a million dollars in damage, with blazing planks raining onto fittings as a 400 foot tower scaffold burned. John D. Rockefeller Jr. funded much of the 4,000,000 project honoring Rev. Dr. Harry Emerson Fosdick.

Mrs Charles H Barnaby entertained seventeen friends at a stag dinner for his birthday. The Old Maidens Club concert at the skating rink was a success and Otis Gardner traveled to Coatesville.
President elect Hoover meets Brazilian officials and American representatives in Rio. He stays at Guanabara Palace, attends three speeches, a National Congress session, Supreme Court visit, and a state banquet at Cattete Palace amid a warm reception.
Mrs. Sarah J. Brackney wife of D I C Brackney died at 27 Melrose avenue Saturday afternoon at 2 10 following a brief illness dating to last Sunday. She is survived by her husband one daughter Mrs Joe Wright of Putnamville two sons Clark at home and Roy northeast of town. Born and raised in Clinton township she had lived in Greencastle for fifteen years.

John Vanderploeg 25 of West Lafayette collapsed in the Butler Fieldhouse bleachers and died of heart disease sparked by the 28 to 27 Butler win over Purdue. He had driven to Indianapolis for the game. body sent to morgue and to be shipped home for burial.

Clifford R. Dickerson county prosecutor plans to retire January 1 and open a private practice in Greencastle. He has served two years and will be succeeded by Marshall Abrams. He is the only county official with an office in the courthouse.
Mrs Effie Rebecca Huffman aged 52 widow of George Huffman died today in Anderson Indiana from influenza. She is the twenty fifth flu death in the city this month and is survived by two daughters.
Mostly fair conditions tonight. Sunday brings slightly warmer temperatures, with the north and central portions warming more than other areas. Winds light, no significant precipitation expected.
Washington awaits President elect Hoover s views on the McNary Haugen farm relief bill as Congress and administration leaders expect a quick push for 1929 crop relief. McNary Jardine draft backed by Hoover aides has federal farm board stabilization funds and advisory councils. If Hoover stays silent Congress may act before his March 4 inauguration.
