A humorous column parodies drought talk with mock causes from radios to Congress. It jokes about chipped rain beliefs, Republican and Democrat blame games, a China skull find, and a verse about Jack Spratt.
A crowd at Jungle Park wrecked the track after manager Bolin announced a purse cut from 700 to 406 dollars. Drivers refused to continue, fans damaged fencing bleachers and lighting. Attaches declined to estimate total damage. Also notes Harry Stamp of Putnam County exhibts horses at Illinois and Wisconsin fairs and judges Belgium classes at Ohio State Fair.
A. G. Brown, president of the Louisville Federal Bank, discusses how Federal Intermediate Credit banks let farming communities form associations to secure funds. Associations can borrow eight times their capital stock via notes or chattel mortgages, aiding farmers in Putnam County and other districts.
Greencastle baseballers won two Sunday games at Limedalle Park. The Greencastle Hine pitched a shutout in an 11 to 0 win over Terre Haute GO P team, while Target held the mound and Black backed the bat. The second game against Greencastle Colored Team ended 1 to 0 but was halted after one inning due to darkness.
The forecast calls for fair skies tonight and Tuesday with little change in temperature. No significant precipitation is expected and temperatures remain mild across the period.

An unidentified thief driving an old Dodge touring car forced the lock on the oil pump at the Standard Oil station on Shady Lane and stole a quart of oil Sunday night. The attendant sleeping in the station awoke to the car motor but could not identify the driver.
Announcement by J Horuff of Horuff Shoe Corp confirms opening of a Factory Outlet Shoe Store in Greencastle. The Sudranski room on the square will house the shop, with work to rush this week for a Saturday opening. The Indiana firm operates fifty stores with headquarters in Indianapolis.
Miss Madeline Pollom and Clair Albin exchanged vows today at noon in their East Washington Street home, with Rev. Bob H. Bruner officiating. The couple, both from local families, celebrated in the presence of immediate relatives as they begin a motor trip to Niagara Falls.
Teachers in Putnam County prepare for the annual institute at the high school next Wednesday and Thursday. Rev P Wisehart state superintendent of public instruction will speak along with Prof. Lewis H. Dirk of DePauw University. Clarence H. Martin of Owen County sues in Putnam circuit court alleging 1926 crop damage from White River overflow due to an embankment built by the Chicago Indianapolis Louisville railroad and the Cooley Gravel Company of Spencer. He claims 2500 in damages and seeks an injunction.
Orville Bitzer reported a spare tire and rim stolen from his Essex Sedan parked near the High School Building. A spare tire and rim were taken from a Model A Ford roadster near the Alamo building late Sunday. owner not obtained. A son, George William, was born Saturday night to Mr. and Mrs. George Reynolds.
A car carrying Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Moore collided with a gasoline powered passenger train at the state road 45 crossing near Crawfordsville. Joseph Moore aged 85 and his wife 36, both of Cleveland, were killed instantly. The couple had been visiting Greencastle relatives. The car struck the engineer’s compartment, the air hose broke, and the vehicle slid about 300 yards before stopping. The Moores had married a year earlier and were formerly from Greencastle and Brazil respectively. Funeral services were held at the Masonic Temple with burial in Forest Hill cemetery.
Garrett Hess aged 52 of Fort Wayne was electrocuted at the Indiana State Farm Putnamville while handling a live wire in the power house. Physicians tried two hours of artificial respiration but he died. The body was sent to Fort Wayne for burial.
