A Greencastle council meeting failed to reach a quorum and no business was transacted. The mayor stated there was nothing to do while attendance remained sparse and the session adjourned without action.
Louis Morrison of Cloverdale, a Ford dealer and peach grower, faces scrutiny after a miscalculation of his crop. He built a sales room and posted a bold August 15 ripening date, yet fruit will not be ready for another ten to fifteen days, while orders flood in for the promised date.
Coal mine operators in Indiana under the Indiana Bituminous Coal Operators Association have begun delivering coal to state institutions at mine prices from 2.95 to 3.50 dollars a ton. Drafts from the individual companies are being signed, says Maurice C. Shelton, secretary of the state joint purchasing committee.
Indianapolis hog market opened steady to higher with 7 000 hogs reported, cattle 2 000 and calves 900. General sales ranged from 15.50 to 15.75 with top at 15.85. Heavyweights 15.00 to 15.25, pigs 15.50, local buyers bought 3 000 hogs, rest sold to outsiders. Cattle active to strong, calves ready, sheep weak to lower.
In Nashville on August 11 the Tennessee House tabled a joint resolution delaying action on ratifying the Federal suffrage amendment, 50 to 37. A joint hearing was announced for tomorrow, with both Senate and House planning to vote on ratification Friday.
Purdue University Poultry Department reports hens lack summer feed and protein, urging farmers to provide meat scraps, tankage, and milk to boost egg production. Recommendations include daily straw litter feeding and three mash formulas with animal protein, plus evening feeding for adults and growing chicks.

He toured Germany Spain Belgium Luxembourg Switzerland England and Northern Ireland noting exchange rates impact on trade and Belgian farmland's resilience.
