Glenn Hurst son of Mr and Mrs Dee Hurst married Jessie Wallace daughter of Mr and Mrs Lemuel Wallace Saturday afternoon at the home of Rev and Mrs J E Cash in Greencastle. The couple will live with the groom’s parents on the National Road. The groom shares management of the Hurst farm with his father.
Guerney Michael of Bloomington street has been ill for weeks with influenza and is taken to his parents near Cloverdale. Charles Watts of Clinton township is critically ill with heart trouble and recovering from pneumonia. Mr and Mrs Hugh O Connor of Roachdale were in the city on business.
Five masked robbers entered the South Bend State Bank at 11 o'clock seizing about $15,000 under revolver threat. They forced the cashier and patrons into an inner room then fled in a suspected stolen car. The cashier refused to reveal the small safe's combination despite threats of death. Police extend a wide search across northern Indiana and southern Michigan for the outlaws.
Sigma Chi team takes the season opener in Bowman gym with 37 points. Beta squad places second with 15 points as DePauw spectators follow the swim contest. Chemistry head William M. Blanchard attends a meeting of the American Chemical Society in St. Louis. Deke aides win bowling meet 1506 to 1569 over Delta Phi.
J Owen Sigler of Back Woods Stock farm visited Greencastle on Monday. His farm lies three miles south of Morton and boasts a strong jack and stallion lineup. He warns of a coming shortage of good horses in the United States and urges farmers to raise and ride as many good colts as possible amid an expected rise in demand for horses and mules.
Mrs. Robert M. Lyons of Bloomington returned to her home after a short visit with her sister Mrs O F Overstreet and Dr Overstreet. M hamm, who resides south of the city, is confined to his home by illness.
