Pointers for Prospects: Morrison and Shinarump Uranium Formations
On the Colorado Plateau the Morrison and Shinarump sandstone formations hold the greatest uranium potential. Morrison is a dark tan, multi layered rock up to 1000 feet thick with uranium deposits in its lower interbedded layer, while Shinarump, a gray, edgelike conglomerate under Chinlee, ranges from inches to over 200 feet and formed in the Triassic era.
