New Regulations Discussed by Uranium Operators

Uranium mine operators are invited to meetings in Green River Moab and Monticello to review safety orders on radon gas concentrations. The Utah State Industrial Commission issued the rules effective January 1, 1956 and will be joined by Utah Mining Association and U S Public Health Service representatives.

Green River Records First Snow After Warm Spell

Green River woke to its first snow of the season on Thursday morning November 17. A blanket covered the town with about one and a half inches by noon while Salt Lake registered 14 below. Residents noted an abrupt cold snap after a prolonged Indian Summer, with chattering teeth and rosy cheeks around town as snowfall continued, just in time for the holidays.

City Treasurer Resigns After 12 Years Service

Mrs. Berna Milton resigns as City Treasurer to return home to San Bernardino California. She also served 12 years on the City Council and engaged in Red Cross work and church missionary activities. The Auditor praised city books as a fine set. Council honored her with a pen and pencil set noting her service. She is mother to four, with a son in Green River and three daughters in California.

Green River Couple Married In Sedona Arizona

Jacqueline De Long and Jay Vetere, both of Green River, wed November 12 in Sedona Arizona at 4 PM at the home of Mr and Mrs A F Allen. Justice Elmer Purtyman officiated with maid of honor Bonnie Bigelow and best man John Vetere. Guests included local residents and a reception followed at the Rainbow Club. The couple planned a Grand Canyon visit and return via Las Vegas, with a reception at the Midland Hotel November 19 before settling in Green River.
