Pheasant Season Opens in Emery and Grand Counties

Council appoints Nelson La Nite City Building Inspector
At a regular meeting the City Council named Nelson La Nite owner of La Nite Plumbing and Heating Co as City Building Inspector filling the vacancy left by Malcolm Politano. The post pays fifty dollars monthly and enforces the Uniform Building Code National Electric Code and National Plumbing Code. The Planning Board supervises building permits. Missing S L Man Returns Home After Six Months
A Salt Lake City man missing for nearly six months has returned home. Lloyd B. Trams, 47, of 2305 Lynwood Dr was the subject of an intensive search in southern Utah after his auto was found abandoned near the McDougald uranium mine south of Green River on May 9. Emery County Sheriff Don B. Kotfer said he was notified Sunday of the return. Trams reportedly suffered amnesia. His Williams family declined comment. Prospector equipment found with the abandoned car raised fears of foul play.

National Polio Rate Drops to Four-Year Low

Turkey Shoot Tremendous Success At Green River Rodeo Grounds
The Green River Service Club hosted the third annual Turkey Shoot on Sunday at the Rodeo Grounds. 71 turkeys were awarded to winners across divisions led by Matt and Helen Tidwell, with Danny Tasker claiming multiple prizes in the Davy Crockett under-12 division and Garney Madsen winning the Remington Wing Master shotgun in the 2 PM drawing. Local shooters and attendees included Rosco Brown, Bob Baldwin, Ed Cooley, Jess Ekker, and Dorothy Thomas.
