Pastor Gustafson Shot in Attempted Robbery Near Church
Pastor Oscar W. Gustafson of the Swedish Lutheran church was shot twice by two holdup men at the Meeker property corner on Ninth avenue while walking to his church. He survived but bullets remained in his neck and shoulder. A nine-year-old boy witnessed part of the event as the suspects fled. Authorities searched the area while the coroner and sheriff investigated a possible suicide note death.

Beater Beet Tender Hangs Self on Ranch Tree Near Longmont
John Beacher a beet worker on the Johnson and Miller ranch six miles east of Longmont committed suicide by hanging from a tree Saturday night. He first tried to cut his throat with a razor but only made a shallow wound. He had been ill for some time and was unable to work.

Tragic Drowning Near Platteville Claims Child
Goldie Cook. 17 months old daughter of Mr and Mrs N and Cook of three miles west of Platteville, drowned Sunday morning in an irrigation ditch beside their home. The mother, briefly away from the house, returned to find the child missing and later discovered the body on the ditch bank. This marks the second such drowning among Platteville’s irrigating ditches in two months.

Five year old May Swearinger kidnapped in city and found safe
Five year old May Swearinger was carried away by a man who spoke like a Mexican near the Exchange hotel area. She slept in a country ditch overnight and returned home the next afternoon. Police traced a Mexican suspect but found no trace of a child with him. the girl recovered with minor illness.
