Greeley Men Buy Antero Reservoir Site in South Park
A group of Greeley men completed a multi week negotiation to purchase the Antero and Lost Park reservoir sites in South Park near Hartsel and the High Line ditch for about 1 million dollars. Prominent bidders include S. J. Peery and the Wyatt brothers with other Denver and Greeley investors. The Antero dam would be 40 feet long and 36 feet high, holding 2.2 billion cubic feet of water to irrigate tens of thousands of acres, with capacity expandable by higher construction. Falling Rock Injures Woman Near Eldorado Springs
Mrs. James H. Thompson, about five miles east of town, was injured when a large boulder loosened by a person above slammed down the mountain near Eldorado Springs during the Tribune correspondent’s picnic. She was with her husband and son as they climbed the mountain path when the rock fell.

Tragic Railroad Death Near Eaton Identified as Pittsburg Man
A man named Doc Cole, described as a negro, was found shredded on a railroad track a quarter mile north of Eaton depot last Thursday. Investigators ruled out foul play, noting he had been drinking and likely wandered onto the tracks while seeking a straw stack north of town. a Denver-bound train later detected blood and clothing, and papers in his pocket indicated he came from Pittsburg, Kansas.

Cattle Roundup Near Hardin Weld Signals End of Open Range

Decree Grants Greeley Water Rights Priority
In Fort Collins district court Judge James E Garrigues signed a decree granting the city of Greeley absolute title to seven and a half cubic feet of water from the Poudre river. The water comes from the old Whedbee ditch with a priority dating to 1862. Smaller ditches with earlier rights exist but many are unused, leaving little or no competing flow.
