Administrator J W Harsh will present his final settlement in the Weld County Colorado county court for James A Porter deceased. The hearing on September 1 1908 at 10 a m will determine heirs as Claude A Porter claims sole heir status. All interested may appear and present objections.
In the Weld County Colorado County Court estate of Alice Porter deceased final settlement by administrator L Harsh is set for September 21 1908 at 10 am to seek discharge and court approval. Claude A Porter claims heirship asserting he is the sole heir. Public notice appears with attorney Fr J Green and dated August 19 1908 with last publication September 9 1903.
The county Republican convention endorses county officers and elects nominees for county clerk Albert J. Luther and treasurer P. W. Allen. It names J. A. Thompson, Ben H. Florance, and Charles Howard for sheriff, with Florance winning on the second ballot. Harrison named for superintendent of schools, Nixon for county judge, Fischer for assessor, and Carpenter wins the senate contest on the second ballot. Delegates to state and national conventions are chosen, and a vacancy-filling committee is appointed.
Ben Florence captured two young Denver horse thieves at the East Side Livery barn. A knife and a gun were drawn during a struggle before the pair were jailed. The thieves took two stolen horses to Greenley before being bought by Fred Reno for 70 dollars. The men identified as A C Wilson and Alex Murphy gave aliases. Sheriff Florance ordered arrests and the pair will be taken to Denver today.
The Agnews plan to depart Greeley around October 1. Mr. Agnew will spend months in the east and then move to California where he will build a permanent home. Mrs. Agnew will winter in Mexico and join him in the spring. The couple have won many friends and their departure is deeply regretted.
A large grey wolf captured near the New Mexico border arrived in town aboard a makeshift cart, chained securely as part of a caravan to Rawlins Wyoming. The Conaway family owned the wolf, with a boy driver and a donkey in tow, as a dozen spectators watched in Greeley during a brief stop.
Burlington land exhibit car tour previews crops from the Big Horn Basin Yellowstone Valley and North Platte Valley in competition with local products. The display visits the yards on Wednesday September 30 and Thursday October 1, with M. W. Randel in charge.
