Weld County Republican Convention Opens In Greeley

Weld County Colorado hosts a Republican County Convention at the County Court House in Greeley on September 18 1585 to nominate candidates for county offices select 14 delegates to the state convention and 14 to the district convention. Precincts pursue representation with lists of delegates. The notice also covers caucus scheduling and a call for assedtor candidacy.

Colorado Census Count Soars From 1880 to 1885

Secretary Lamar received an iron box with Colorado census returns. Colorado, first to report, shows population rising from 194,327 in 1880 to 243,910 in 1885, a gain of 49,583. Farmers nearly double and manufacturing establishments more than doubling from 559 to 1,004.

Weld County Fair Announces Premiums and Obstacle Race

Lyulph Ogilvy offers ten and five dollar premiums for best and second best four grade cows. Sharon Atkinson posts fifteen dollars for an obstacle race with divers impediments on the track. An entry fee of fifty cents funds the second-place prize. W J Henderson sells fruits cigars and temperance drinks at forty and a half dollars. Track improvements and horse training noted. Public notices on judges’ acceptance remain private. Residents may contact Mrs A M Smith for washing or work at Mrs Evans location.
