Union Pacific train outruns auto in forger hunt near Cheyenne

A forger known as John Davis, about 30, five feet eight, 156 pounds, smooth shaved, used a $15 check from the First National Bank of Greeley. He cashed it at Levin Brothers in Greeley and fled by train toward Lucerne then Cheyenne while officers pursued in an auto.

Farmer Bert Pickett Arrested for Selling Diseased Meat

Bert Pickett a farmer near Twin Bridges was arrested by Deputy Sheriff Peterson on four counts of selling diseased meat. He pleaded guilty and was held on $500 bond per count awaiting district court trial. Meat from three bloated cattle was sold in Milliken Peckham and nearby farms with one carcass sold for $13 before a butcher burned the rest.

The Tuesday afternoon reception at the Baptist church Hall welcomed forty new members of the women’s Christian Temperance Union. Mrs Maggie Devenport delivered the welcome, and Mrs Gertrude Wright the response. 85 ladies attended with solos, chorus numbers, and bouquets for leaders Mrs Copeland and Mrs Beer.

Mountain Ash Singers Delight Greeley Audiences At First Philharmonic Show

The Mountain Ash male choir impressed a large Greeley audience at Sterling theatre as the first Philharmonic Society attraction. The ensemble’s balance, shading, and long rehearsed precision drew storms of applause, with a varied program from Old Black Joe to a Handel tenor aria. The Knight Campbell Music Co provided the piano.
