A man posing as a day laborer cashed forged checks totaling 100 to 150 dollars at Eaton businesses. Marshal Camp pursued, shot at the suspect twice, and captured him after a chase. Civil engineers Baker and Badger completed two blue print cloth maps for irrigation. The 30 by 42 inch map covers all irrigable lands in the Poudre valley from Bellvue west to four miles east of Greeley, north five miles beyond Ault, and south to Greeley. The 28 by 34 inch map shows Weld county irrigated lands from the county line to Crow Creek and from five miles north of Ault to LaSalle south.

A Greeley Relic From Horace Greeley Cabin Log
George Swadley of near Arvada will donate a May 1859 log from a Horace Greeley cabin to the State Historical Society. Swadley bought the cabin in 1860 and learned Greeley slept there in late May 1859. The ten foot long log, six inches thick, was moved to Swadley's ranch and later sold.
