Officials announce Weld County prize winners will compete in Denver during Thanksgiving week. The county winners advance to the state crop contest held in the capital, aligning with the statewide teachers conference. Winnings are based on potato prices judged at the Weld County fair.
The epieds shown were among the best ever seen, with judges predicting prizewinners will fare well at the state exhibit. Prizes offered include substantial cash. Potatoes were the county’s sole exhibit after district meetings, with top youngsters urged to take their spuds to Denver.
Monroe Shephard to appear in court this afternoon to show cause who he should not turn over $360 to one. Attorney Leo G Mann defended after he hauled Mann's mother out of her way. The cab incident involved two passengers including William Fee father of Leroy Fee who eloped with Ida Rittenhouse. Mann demanded Mrs Mann be allowed to leave and Shephard offered to drop her first for 26 cents, leading to a $300 claim.

Denver October 4 The 1910 potato crop movement from the Greeley district expands Union Pacific capacity with 2000 extra cars. Crop size similar to last year but strong demand from eastern states increases shipments. About 7000 carloads expected from Greeley and nearby stations this season. Three new Union Pacific branches in Weld County add seventy miles of track, shortening wagon haul and aiding potato and beet markets.
Greeley leaders report a potential seventeen acre land grant in the city for a public playground. The site would include a large lake for swimming and activity space for boys and girls, with schools and churches backing the project.
Greeley news notes the Commercial Club opening season with I Rothschild elected president by acclamation. The board includes Statler Mayher Abistrand McCrery Allen McArthur Edgell Kittle. A. E. Gipson editor of the Idaho Odd Fellow at Caldwell Idaho visited his father in law Henry T. West in this city yesterday. Gipson is a leading Idaho newspaper man with journals well regarded nationally. Mrs West accompanies him back to Caldwell and West will depart soon to handle business affairs then. West's son George plans to move to Oregon soon after.
County Health Commissioner William H. Shields and Patrolman Ahrend toured Greeley alleys on a regular county-wide schedule. They inspect dairies shops and alleys for sanitary conditions and work with police to improve alley cleanliness toward a near spotless town standard.
In a crowded county court room Justice Pressler bound Charles and Rosina Georgii over to the district court on a $2000 bond after a preliminary trial. Prosecutor Victor E. Keyes and defense attorney James W. Gault led opposing sides in the morning proceedings. The case centers on the grave digging timing related to the infant daughter of Mary Georgii.
