Citizens delivered the greatest vote in Weld County history showing a decisive return to honest politics. Churchill and Charles Davis lost their bids while Clayton and W. R. Adams secured clear majorities amid party headquarters scenes and courteous post election gestures.
In the armory on Saturday night the Victor Y M C A team of Denver defeated Company D 31 to 28 in a tight season opener. Oney led with 20 points as the lineup included Fortune Pechin Offerlee Pattee Vieters McGraw Warnecke Gebhard Smith and A McGraw among others.
The Rocky Mountain News reports a booming potato season in northern Colorado with an expected 10,000 cars shipped mainly to Texas. Yields run exceptionally high in Lone Tree, Ault, and near Seely Lake, with records like 300 sacks per acre and potatoes weighing up to five pounds. Sugar beets also show strong yields near fifteen tons per acre, boosting overall farm income.
