Three thousand sheep at the Greeley sugar factory yards and 5,000 at Windsor yards are being fattened on beet pulp and alfalfa by the Greeley Sugar Co. They began feeding October 11, averaging 74 pounds, gaining about two and a half pounds weekly. Each sheep gets ten pounds of pulp and a half pound of alfalfa daily. By December 2 they expect 98 pound weights and first shipments. Two thousand more Greeley and 3,000 Eaton sheep to join soon. By February 10 500 cattle to be fed. total stock: 15,000 sheep and 500-600 cattle. Beet pulp demand high. last season profit 90 cents per head. Pulp vs pulp alfalfa vs pulp alfalfa corn shows 25 percent more gain with pulp and alfalfa.
