Tuesday council meeting granted Home Gas and Electric permission to install poles on the south side of Eighth Street between Eighth and Ninth Avenues in the business district. Merchants expect rapid installation to brighten downtown Greeley.
Greeley launches a chrysanthemum industry with thousands of blooms shipped weekly to Denver. Andrew Gardner marks an enormous crop after closing greenhouses and focuses on extra large and medium blossoms. Denver florists raise flowers to meet demand amid high prices and labor needs. Gardner expects about 60 000 blossoms this season with three men picking.
An Eaton Nigar factory employee, Hit Crane Eaton, was struck in the forehead by a moving crane Tuesday causing a severe head wound and narrowly avoiding a fracture. Foster, a co worker, witnessed the incident and medical staff attended promptly.
The unknown man believed killed was not Frank Wolverton of Benton Harbor. Eva Wolverton wrote that the child was ill and the father had last been heard in Greeley. The letter led to publication in Greeley papers, locating Wolverton in Kimball, Nebraska, where he works for Ira Stukey.
The Elson art exhibit in the eighth grade building of Greeley public schools features portraits and scenes from Egyptian Greek Roman and Renaissance art. Proceeds fund permanent classroom pictures and a daily afternoon program includes singing and violin.
In Rockland district No. 13 Miss Paxton transforms a 27 pupil country school into a civic center through bazaars and entertainments. Extra funds finance beauty projects, manual training, needle and art work and athletics with no extra tax. Tennis and football lead. basketball planned.
Family and relatives gather in Hastings for the funeral of John Bauer. Attendees include J. T. Bauer of Atlanta Nebraska and C. R. Bauer of Oxford Nebraska, as well as sisters Mrs Conrad Shaffer and Mrs Henry Kam merzell of Hastings.
Miss Katharine Hale and Miss Ruth Morris from the Teachers college will tell weekly stories for the children at the high school auditorium Friday afternoon. Hale, last year’s performer, plays Jacobus the Burgomeister in The Piper to be staged at Sterling theatre next week, and the matinee guest children will hear the plot. The stories start promptly at 4 15. Parents and children are welcome.
Miss Zella Allen daughter of Fred Allen elopes with John A. Christensen son of County Commissioner Nels Christensen. Relatives were informed that the couple planned a honeymoon in Vancouver British Columbia after their secret marriage.
Young People Dance Mr. and Mrs. L A Havick Mrs Mayers and daughter Miss Viola and Frank Lesher hosted a dancing party Tuesday evening at Academy hall. Frences Tobey directs The Piper at Sterling Theatre with eighty wardrobe workers from State Teachers' College and mothers of eighty children. Costumes evoke German fashion from six centuries ago and adults feature Chicago’s top costumer for the production on Friday November 17.

Primary teachers of the Baptist Sunday school entertained the mothers of the children at the Baptist parsonage Tuesday evening. Miss Luna Smith, superintendent, explained the methods and aims of the primary work during the program and business meeting. A social hour and light refreshments followed.
Twenty young ladies of the Congregational church will be entertained Friday afternoon at the home of Mrs. C. E. Clark. Hostesses include Mrs. Clark Mrs. F. P. Matthews and Mrs. W. F. Spaulding of Kersey. The group is tying comforts for a local dry goods store in Greeley to raise funds for their church pledge of $100.
John T Craron named traveling passenger agent for Union Pacific succeeding H B Hill. Craron made his first trip to Greeley today in his new role after a period with the railroad. Hill remains employed in Denver offices.
Miss Mabel Martin of Windsor is recovering well after an operation at Windsor Hospital. She is listed among the community’s popular young ladies and is expected to resume activities soon.
Ludlow Mass November 8 a fund by Charles D. Rood rewards Howard A Bennett of Ludlow Center for never using profanity never tobacco never liquor and never kissing a girl outside family He received a gold watch on his twenty first birthday with an inscription.
Democratic governors won in Massachusetts Kentucky and Mississippi while Rhode Island and New York swung Republican. New Jersey, Maryland and New Mexico results were mixed with significant shifts in state legislatures and Tammany Hall losses in New York City. Maryland results remained inconclusive early this morning.
Mrs W C Wilson and Mrs G D Statler host informal thimble parties this week. The first gathering Tuesday at 1118 Ninth Street entertained 35 ladies with an impromptu violin and piano program by Miss Helen Phillips and Miss Dorothea Haynes. Refreshments were served by Grace Wilson and Margaret Statler. The remaining two gatherings will be Thursday and Friday at 1502 Ninth Avenue.
J F Jackson sold his mercantile business to a Denver firm in Fort Lupton. He plans to move his family to the western coast for a year then return to live on his ranch nearby.
Mrs J J Rigdon of Sterling Colorado appeared in police court after swatting Robert Holt at Glenarm and Sixteenth. She may be referred to a physician or committed to an asylum. She claimed Holt followed her and was known to strike men who flirted with her. Holt showed a black eye as evidence.
Two youths clashed in Crosby's restaurant in Windsor this morning. One worker at the sugar factory pleaded guilty to fighting and was fined five dollars plus costs. Young Crosby, son of the restaurant owner, claimed self defense and received a hearing this afternoon.
A called West Side Ladies Aid society meeting is planned next Friday afternoon at Mrs D H Barbers home to finish comforters for the upcoming gathering. The prior Wednesday gathering at Mrs G Beggs home was an all day session with good progress and a fine dinner served by Mrs Beggs and Mrs Tom Wright.
In Fort Lupton on November 8 Hobo McDonald attempted to hold up the town marshal while armed with a gun stolen from Brighton. He resisted arrest and faced Judge Funck that afternoon.
An American Nobles organizer visited Milliken this week to drum up interest in a new lodge. A card party at the I O O F hall Monday drew many potential charter members for the growing organization.
Mrs. P. Bryan and her children return from a Pueblo visit and intend to spend a month in Greeley before traveling to Salt Lake City where Mr. Bryan is currently located.

Four leads chosen for the December 12 St. John's Eve under the Philharmonic society at Sterling theatre. Soprano Mrs C E Griffney, contralto Mrs Bessie Fox Davis, tenor Frank W Farmer, and baritone C W Kettering headlining. The concert features a 20‑piece orchestra and a strong chorus with alto and tenor additions. The program also includes The Piper on November 17 and earlier Temple male quartet from Denver appears.
