New Miles for Record Heat Walk Across State
May 29 report says 61 year old Hn Walsh, famed as a long distance walker, set a new 56 mile record toward New York after leaving Denver at 6 AM. He stopped at Briggs store for lunch, then pressed on toward Kersey carrying two books and weighing five pounds. Walsh, serving in the United States Army infantry, displayed seals of courts and the art of Ben Lindsey during the journey. Coffman visiting Pierce, Father Rev Arthur aad family also mentioned.

Only 63 Left in Regiment After Fifty Year Reunion
William D. Dougherty returned from the east where he attended the 50th anniversary reunion of the First New Jersey regiment in Newark. Of 1,000 enlistees, only 63 attended. Veterans were escorted by autos along their former route and treated to a 12 course dinner. Dougherty served three times in the war, later planning a visit to his son in Idaho after a brief stay in Greeley.

Heary Nix, 200 pounds, driven to Dr J E Vance's office after a moth miller flew into his ear canal causing intense pain. Two helpers restrained him while the doctor removed the live insect with forceps. The moth measured about an inch with wings.

Auto Hit by Train Wrecked Car At Kin singer Crossing
Evans May 29 report details a near fatal crash when brakes failed at the Kin singer crossing north of town. John Terebaugh drove the car with Harry Swanson W Atkins W Brown and Charles Lawrence aboard. Four occupants jumped as a freight engine struck the auto, disentangling, with Terebaugh urging others to jump and escaping with minor injuries. The engine cracked the front, scattering debris, while the car was hurled off the rails. The party, returning to Greeley, were within 60 feet of the crossing when danger loomed, and assistance moved to the scene as the wreck was assessed.
