In Greeley March 7 1885 a notice from the Tribune and its proprietors declares they will not be responsible for debts unless backed by a written order from the office. The public is asked to heed the warning and to note signatories Karon Meeker FEJ Canver W S Fullerton.
Special correspondence notes T T Dunbar J M Richards and Pierce and Son visiting Windsor for a hunting trip. Ducks were scarce with limited bags while Harris logged 66 ducks in a day and Beaver catches impressed. Watson Malott arrives from Canada and considers Windsor home while assisting additions at Hotel de Harris. Frank McCracken and party expected next week for a brief hunt.
Special Correspondence of the Greeley Tribune reports busy wheat sowing in Eaton. John Stafford went to Denver. Mrs. Wright from Windsor visits after lecture hosted by Mrs. A J Eaton. Fort Collins markets report wheat at 1.05 to 1.10 as Poudre Valley Bank receives 1000 silver dollars from the U S Mint in Carson City Nevada. Local plans include a water gauge patent proposal by Hi P Handy and cattle/poultry news from Harmony and Laramie along with a detailed railroad legislation meeting agenda and merchant exchanges discussing H R 217 and related bills.
A snow cover spans the county except the western hills with an estimated ten percent loss in Big Horn basin this winter. The region, about 100 miles by 120 wide, hosts 120000 cattle with half in bad lands. Stewart Webster and Joseph Murray plan 1000 acres sown in spring after current plowing with thirteen teams. KE Lamb reports light snow near Longs Peak while W R Blore sells cattle to Powder River company and local bulls. Farmers in Harmony district boost clover and timothy cultivation, yielding profits. Stewart Webster to seven acres of timothy last year produced thirty-six bushels per acre sold at seven dollars a bushel.
