Mechames 3 and John Saxton return from Routt county after a harsh winter overland trek with guide Storms. Buxtons rush 100 miles from Rock Springs to reach a dying mother, walking with babies, crossing snow and night at a sheep camp. The mother rallies briefly but dies after their arrival.
The city paper notes another world voyage by a sailor from Nebraska now serving in the navy. Etta from Pueblo, enlisted three years ago, recently highlighted as a promising gunner with top drill scores. He plans furlough in Greeley to visit grandparents before heading to Salt Lake to see his mother.

Seven week old infant suffocated in crib as mother Mrs Peter Cuneo of 2112 Lawrence Street wrapped the baby tightly before bed. Father Peter Cuneo, an engineer, is away on the road and unaware of the tragedy. The mother was initially hysterical but recovering.
