Evans residents report numerous visits from Denver and Colorado Springs. Ault and Eaton communities organize church events, crosses are sought at Second and Third streets, and a circulating library opens with fifty volumes. A store robbery at G N Yeagy’s adds local concern.
Fred Norman returned from Missouri. Flora Cole visited her mother every Sunday. Mrs. Arthur Davis was a Denver traveler on Thursday. Mrs. Perry Murray called at Mrs. Bollingers on Saturday. Mrs. Wambaugh of Greeley visited Mrs. Stanley. Alice and Nellie Chestnut visited friends in Greeley last week. Emma Faulk of Eaton called on Lula Houston Sunday evening.
John Duncan began work on a new house. The Baptist Ladies Aid meets this Thursday with Mrs. R D S Padget. Professor B F Brown of the Ault schools traveled to Illinois last week to visit his mother. Mr. and Mrs. Ellery Archer moved from Greeley into Aaron Frye's east of the track home.
Eaton residents and visitors are listed with travels to Fort Collins Greeley and Seattle. Local developments include street grading improvements and other town projects. Community events feature a Children day observance at Congregational church and an Eaton Windsor game with a 15 to 13 result.
Robert Cipson reports Boyd spent several days on his Lone Tree ranch last week. Mrs. Cora Scott visited Pueblo to see her husband F. W. Scott. Mr and Mrs Martinson hosted friends from Clear Water Nebraska. Harry Teller visited from Windsor to relatives here. Caroline Creemer travels to Topeka for several months with her daughter, to return to Greeley later. Archie David leaves for New York after his father’s death. he will come back to Colorado. Frank Youngs made a business trip to Denver. Gust Mellin traded property for the J S Clague farm near Lucerne. J N Harris sold five acres to Warren on west Fifth street. Clague and Warner take possession later.
Miss Hazel Rhodes and Lily Lora visited relatives in Ashton and Evans while Mr Erickson traveled to the mountains for poles. Crops look fine and water is ample. Sunday school and preaching are planned with Rev Macy. Nearby visitors include Dr John Carlson Geo A Carlson and families from Eaton Fort Collins Osborne and Wichita.
Villagers note relatives visiting this week as the river drops from flood highs. Miss Alma Johnson returns to Greeley after a week with her parents. E Burbank and Mr Warner of Greeley haul telephone poles near Windsor. Japs finish beer work and plan to move to Mr Barriger fields. Chas Neff and the blacksmith plan a mountain pleasure trip for several weeks.
Harry Bancroft visits his parents. Mrs Moerkle and children traveled to Platteville Sunday. Mrs John Hubbard and daughter went to Greeley Saturday. Mrs Roy Noel recovers from a serious illness. Mr Barr’s sister and niece from Nebraska are visiting.
Mr Moser bought the Reynolds place. Mr Girvan plans to use his irrigating ditch for about half a mile. A fine rain last Sunday did much good. A recent storm struck Mr White's house with lightning but only shingles were torn off. A large crowd attended the children day exercises with a well decorated school house and nice program.
Miss Alice Allen of this city and J Howard Kennedy of Windsor were married in Denver last Wednesday evening. The bride, daughter of Mrs Levi Allen and sister of P W and A J Allen, has taught school. The groom is assistant cashier of the Weld County Bank at Windsor, and they will reside in Windsor.
At high noon yesterday June 22 Miss Elsie daughter of E C Billings married Edward Gashert at the bride’s parents home on West Second Street Rev R J Hunter officiating. The groom a machinist at the sugar factory has lived in Greeley for years and both will move to Fifth Street for their home.
Edith Kathleen Kelly and George D McDougall were married yesterday at noon at the bride’s parents home. Rev Parry-Thomas presided over the ceremony in Greeley with many relatives in attendance. The bride, a Greeley graduate, will reside in Wheatland Wyoming with her husband.
A joyful wedding united Miss Dora Vale and John Frederick Steck at the Dale residence on the Gill and Decker ranch northeast of Greeley Tuesday evening. Vale is the ranch manager’s daughter and Steck, son of J C Steck of Kersey, has served as second lieutenant of Company D, C N G and worked as a carpenter. The ceremony was conducted by Rev R J Hunter of the First Presbyterian church in front of many friends and relatives.
Mrs. W. W. Tinker invited North Side Country Club ladies to a June 16 gathering despite bad weather. Members answered roll call with proverbs, the literary portion led by Mrs. Blunt on Famous Artists, and Mrs. Tinker presented a paper on Our Foreign Missionaries. Refreshments were served and the group planned to meet Mrs. Hopkins on June 30.
To contractors and stone men the plans and specifications for the North Ward school building are now in the hands of the building committee chairman E B Coulter 722 Ninth street.
The Greeley Tribune hosts a day trip next Friday June 30 by broad gauge cars from Greeley to the Moffat road and up to the Continental Divide. Proceeds fund summer park music for all residents with dancing pavilion at Tolland and a special train return planned for a full day of mountain scenery and recreation.
