Normal Teachers College plans expansion and new campus

The State Teachers' College of Colorado, now renamed, outlined ambitious plans to enlarge the campus to forty acres with new chapels, an auditorium, gymnasium, student housing, an alumni hall, a college hall, and a music hall. Extensions include facilities for domestic science, a girls and boys club bungalow, additional cottages, and a shift toward a four year program to meet rising demand for higher grade teachers.

Court House Protection Sparks Weld County Club Meeting

Windsor June T. The Weld County Commercial club met to discuss county court house repairs and a new building. A night watchman was proposed to protect records in the vaults and committee changes were noted, with a plan to invite county clubs to a silver cup exhibit at the next county fair.

Weldona family travels to college graduation in Fort Collins

Mrs. R. W. Shaffer and her son Robert Jr of Weldona visited Greeley as they proceed to attend the Agricultural College graduation exercises in Fort Collins. They were guests of Miss M. Eyser during their stay.

Balch Heads to National Field Meet in Chicago

Star Colorado athlete Harry Balch leaves for Chicago to compete in the national field meet on June 10 accompanied by Rex Eaton. Balch led the Colorado Springs state meet, winning first in broad jump and both hurdles and breaking the 120 yard hurdle record, with funds raised to send him and hopes high for top honors.

Parker Receives Twenty One Guernsey Cows for Evans Ranch

H. D. Parker bought twelve Guernsey cows this morning for his dairy herd at his ranch east of Evans. This brings his total to twenty one head of the famous cattle. The latest cows were purchased in Philadelphia and imported from the Guernsey Islands.

City council approves new street crossings and band concerts

The council adopted four foot crossings replacing two sixteen inch strips and pledged a weekly city park concert series by the Greeley band for ten warm weather weeks beginning soon. A bridge issue on Twelfth street was referred to the mayor for review while drinking cups in public buildings face a state law with a 90 day window.

Tribune Excursion on Moffat Road Priced at 2.50

The 1911 class at State Normal in Sterling staged Maeterlinck's The Blue Bird at the new Sterling theatre in Greeley. Despite delays, audiences stayed to witness the youthful cast led by Clotilda Des Jardins and Gwladys Jones. Frances Tobey directed, with Professor Richard Ernesti guiding scenic effects and a large ensemble delivering polished performances from Tylyl to the Blue Children and Tall Blue Persons.

The small son of Mr and Mrs Edwin Starkey contracted measles yesterday prompting cancellation of a planned gathering for the senior and junior classes at the Normal kindergarten to celebrate at the Starkey home this afternoon.
