A Wednesday afternoon garden party at Mrs. Yer Howard’s home drew about 125 guests including Mrs. Steele Dowell and Misses Flora Mildred and daughter-in law Mrs. Herman Howard. Preparations flanked a shade tree planted by Mr. Howard 38 years ago and vines clambered over rugs cushions and seats. Despite wind and rain the crowd filled the house as guests arrived by autos and hacks, and pink roses and peonies offered color for the event.

Firecracker Blaze Destroys Barn in Eaton
Francis McCracken son of J L McCracken of Eaton played with firecrackers behind the barn on the Fourth. A cracker rolled into the hay igniting a fire. Firefighters and residents rushed the hose cart but within a half hour the barn was burned down. Estimated loss runs to a couple hundred dollars.
