J Max Clark argues against a private funded Father Tisdel memorial fearing lack of sustained support. He suggests a public drinking fountain memorial as a safer civic gesture and urges park and courthouse area placements to honor the cemetery founder.
About 10:00 Tuesday evening a crowd described as spooks silently approached the Charles Knelly home then surrounded the house. Doors opened and the guests invited in. Fifty friends spent a pleasant evening and left in the late hours, ending a quiet social gathering.
Chas Camp of this city writes from Fresno California dated January 21 1909 about the potato situation. He cites Fresno as central to the potato district noting only about 2000 cars remain and no new crop until June 1 limiting shipments to Texas and other markets. He mentions Fresno grocers selling at 1.75 per 100 pounds and reports rain warm spells and vineyard plowing as a sign of seasonal activity.
The article notes a looming potato shortage with 609000 packs available and George Shima controlling about 200000 sacks. Prices jump from 1.25 to 2.00 per sack, with a forecast of 2.59 at retail. The new crop arrives in June after heavy freezing and transport issues across California Oregon and Arizona. Shima, Stockton grower, aims to dominate the market again this season.

Mrs Mary Brockway of 1117 Riahth street sells the adjoining lot to her residence to W J Miner. The property includes a flower garden admired by residents since early town days in Greeley.

Alice Moore and D Finlay Faris of Sparta wed at 6 30 Tuesday night in the Moore ranch home. The ceremony was followed by a supper and gifts of china silver and linen. The couple plan to live in Sparta Illinois. The Rev J M Wrile of the Reformed Presbyterian church officiated. Out of town guests included Mr and Mrs F R Farie Peckham and Esther Bilis oe.
In the Francis Marks estate case near Windsor a nephew who formerly served time for horse stealing is linked to the murdered man known as Dutch Frank The Horse King and The Governor. Twelve heirs are identified by Attorney Joseph C. Ewing after years of correspondence. each to receive about $100 unless the missing nephew reappears. The case threads through jail, letters, and a slip of a Catholic prayer book as proof of heirship and marriage questions.
Edith A. Granger married Lieutenant Rutherford 8 Hartz of Fort Logan at St Bar nabas Episcopal church in a simple 5 30 ceremony. The bride daughter of the late C A Granger and a former Greeley social favorite, the couple will live at Fort Logan after a Colorado Springs honeymoon.
Miss Mabel Bayleff and Miss Irma Lesh attended the telephone operators party in Greeley Saturday night. Logan Martin of Windsor visits his uncle David Higgins and family. Born January 22 a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. G Werner. Helen Lee, formerly of Ault, spends week with Mrs. H W Kirby and returns to Denver to live with her father. Mr. and Mrs. M W Stewart return from Johnstown where they visited Mrs. Stewart's grandmother Mrs. Gray. Charlies Younker and Harry Parry of Eaton Sugar Co sign beet contracts with farmers. many contracts closed. Rebekahs decide not to buy a piano, will invest money for interest. another ten cent social planned next Wednesday at Will Hudson’s. Mr. and Mrs. W C Shannon of Morrill Neb visiting relatives. J C Bayleff of Boulder visits daughter Mabel. guest of S S Woland. Mrs. W Tormey and two children and Miss Aims Dahlgren leave for California. Arnold Tormey suffers rheumatism this winter. Gilmore and B F Early, formerly of Ault now of Greeley, leave for Scott’s Bluff Neb to pursue real estate investment.
James Morgan of Fort Collins was in Windsor Tuesday. Mrs. C. J. Sawyer and sister Miss Margaret McLean were Fort Collins visitors Tuesday. Mrs. J. G. Hess returned from Denver after several weeks of medical care. Miss Margaret Beynon returned to her Denver home Tuesday.
In Greeley and surrounding districts most autos are tied to land filings as settlers eye open parcels near Crow Creek Pleasant Valley and Kersey. New filings emerge with prices rising from modest values to hundreds per acre as investors and a Normal School student target undeveloped acreage. The Sugar Beet Road advances toward Greeley, tracing a route toward Denver Laramie and Fort Collins extensions.
Four year old George Starbird son of Mr and Mrs W K Starbird fell from a second story window while playing with his younger brother Maurice. The screen was opened during the mother's absence and doctors have not yet determined the severity of his skull fracture.
State Road through Greeley, the Port Collins and Loveland people plan indignation meetings and will send a delegation to the state legislature to block changing the route. They oppose a newer proposal that would shift the line further east to pass through Greeley. The Greeley route is seen as cheapest and most feasible with the Commercial club likely to push the proposition.
A meeting of about a dozen local supporters and state officers reviewed the need for a Y M C A in Greeley. A six person committee was formed to present the plan to the Commercial club and citizens. Fort Collins reports strong demand and capacity for 1000 members if started here.

Lchroeder the Windsor druggist arrested for selling liquor was brought into court today and furnished bonds for his February 3 appearance. He was previously released on recognizance but the village revoked his license after another disturbance, forcing additional bond.
