Plattville Meningitis Reports Corrected And Quarantine Considered

Reports from Platteville on meningitis were corrected showing three deaths in the town and three elsewhere. Hiram Stewart died in Platteville with services at Ellisboro, interment at Windsor. James Underwood also died after nursing Stewart. No new Platteville cases since last Wednesday. town not quarantined though state health board debated it while the hotel remained under quarantine.

Grain Prizes Awarded for Colorado Youth Contest

Prof. W H Olin of Colorado State Agricultural College reports results from the Patterson prizes in grain growing for youths under 18. Total prizes $268 were awarded, 23 winners, none from Weld County. Girls won $138. Contest aims to spur grain improvement across Colorado. details available from Prof. Olin in Fort Collins. Greeley Man Buys Estes Park Estate In $80000 Transfer

Saturday night in Denver B D Sanborn of Greeley acquired all Earl of Dunraven property in Estes Park. The deal includes 4000 acres of deeded land with additional contested acreage and the Dunraven hotel, cottages, stables, and meadows. Sanborn plans a summer hotel, steam car line, power plant at Bierstadt and Bear lakes, and extensive park development.

Dam Breaks At Bartel Reservoir North Of Evans

The Bartel reservoir dam on the Greeley Evans divide breached last Sunday releasing all water onto the flats north of Evans. Muskrats are suspected to have holes in the embankment allowing water to escape. The reservoir supplied irrigation east of Evans road and provided ice in winter. a small loss is expected from the ice operation.

Towans Invest Here in Gilcrest Town Site Visit

A group of fourteen Towans visited Greeley last week to survey land for the new Gilcrest town. Van Scoy & Johns of Woodbine Ia led the party. J B Adams bought 160 acres near Gilcrest and others including John Boise and George Tucker planned hardware stores. Local buyers from Woodbine and area purchased land and city lots over the past weeks.

Longmont Girls Defeat Local Team In Armory Contest

The high school girls basketball team lost to Longmont by 23 points to 9 last Friday night in the armory. A large crowd witnessed the exciting game. Co. F. Bell leaves on a three weeks business trip for Model Milling Co.
