Report from Spokane notes rapid deployment of four car types to Washington streets. Cars arrived Monday and are expected to begin operation soon in Wash. state, with officials emphasizing a quick rollout and contrasting performance to earlier cities.
The Knights of Pythias confer a degree at a fraternal meeting. Officers reelected include C J of 8 and K of J Henry Couture M of Miles J G Emil Hear and others. Family members are mentioned as traveling home from West Waitesburg and Greeley.
Denver area notes an upcoming town event as rails and traction engines arrive joyfully. Officials plan exercises and a formal opening while Katherine Craig, superintendent, and Olin Weld announce exhibits and lunches for the celebration.
The wedding of Miss Sela Boyd to Harry Kester occurs at 1312 Eleventh Street with Rev. R J Hunter officiating. Attendants include Mabel Shrum and Archie Wilson. Luna Smith and Mabel WilkIngson provide music. The bride, daughter of Mr and Mrs David Boyd, plans to move to Wichita Falls where Kester will manage a large stock ranch.
C M Webb found guilty in the county court of non support and sentenced Tuesday morning to thirty days in jail or pay fifteen dollars a month to his wife for six months. Webb is jailed. He has troubled sheriff’s office and city police, once accusing a friend Earl Little of stealing clothes in Greeley before fleeing. He was brought back to the city, has past Denver police trouble, and was once accused of robbing a relative of jewels.
President Taft after talks with six railroad presidents announced a two part message to Congress. The trusts section will go on Thursday noon while the Interstate commerce section is postponed to Friday. A conservation message is expected next Monday.
Windsor, Jan. 4 After a brief illness L H Hungerford aged 60 died at his Windsor home Sunday night. He had asthma and heart trouble and came from Greeley years ago. The funeral was at 2:90 this afternoon from the Methodist church. He leaves a widow a son Frank Hungerford and a daughter Mia Della Stevens of Julesburg.
Old King Boreas hit Monday as a county blizzard tore down electric wires and disrupted lines between Estop Denver Ault and Denver. Snow fell heavily in the north, with Greeley hit hardest and Fort Lipton spared at the fringe as streets emptied after 8.
Multiple towns report heavy winds and six inch snow with drifts up to three feet. Wires torn down cut telephonic lines between Greeley Ault Windsor Masters La Salle and Milton reservoir. Repairs pushed, but many lights out overnight and services disrupted.
Walter E Bliss popular young attorney from Greeley married Artie Sterling of Grand Rapids after a college romance at Ann Arbor. The wedding was a small home ceremony with close relatives present. The couple will reside with Mr and Mrs H Ward at 1120 Sixth Street until returning from California in the spring. This is the Bliss family’s third wedding in three months.
Eighteen Indians from the western slope near Durango, including Utes and Navajos, arrived in Fort Collins to attend a farmers course. It marks a first for a group this size at an agricultural school aside from Indian schools. They aim to learn farming methods to teach their people upon return.
Port Collins January 3 Professor Keysers opened the Farmers short course with a lecture on Crop Saits and Their Control noting winter wheat damage up to 20 percent in parts of Colorado and average losses as high as 60 percent. He describes smuts on oats barley and wheat and explains prevention by seed treatment using formalin solution. The session continues with details on open and closed smut varieties and practical application methods.
The Windsor sugar factory finished slicing beets at 1 30 Monday and will have three or four more days of campaign. Output is estimated between 5 000 and 6 000 tons with an average daily yield around 0 40 tons. No new trouble with Great Western Sugar and a chamber of commerce committee works to arrange a mass meeting for beet growers amid crop-quality complaints and flat rate concerns.

Windscar Jan 4 The offer of forty eight hours to depart town ends the case of HW Harding accused of stealing a watch a pipe worth eight dollars and other small items He was arrested Sunday afternoon and jailed but later the items were found with him and returned to owners The robbed parties did not press charges and officers decided to dismiss the matter
Governor Shallenberger of Nebraska spoke on political patriotism in Eaton last night. He was joined by G. F. Miller, an Eaton businessman and fellow Mason, longtime friend of Shallenberger, who spent time with the governor discussing old times as a storm raged and many attendees listened.
Jan 4 Eaton report notes Mr. Shallenberger spoke on political patriotism, met old neighbor G F Miller of Gilcrest Lumber, both Masons with Alma roots. Stormy weather and power outages forced a church switch, dulling turnout. He declared himself a Democrat but peaceful, joking about a Republican river running through his Alma farm.
The Baptist church held its annual meeting Monday evening with over 100 attendees despite the storm. A supper at 6 followed by a business session featured department reports. Plans for a $25,000 modern new church were discussed with excavation complete and builders to be chosen. The facility will include four to six Sunday school rooms and be geared for Sunday school work.
