A freight train from Creeley to Fort Collins derailed near Bracewell due to a broken rail but was flagged just yards away. The crew avoided disaster due to quick action by J. M. Kelley and Frank Heaton. After repairs the train proceeded about three hours later toward Fort Collins.
Kelley discovered a broken rail and warned a freight train near Greeley. He and Frank Renton flagged the train at Bracewell warehouse, stopping it before disaster. Aid arrived and repair crews worked hours before the train resumed its journey.
At a Commercial Club directors meeting it was decided to hold the next banquet on Monday evening March 7. The topics to be discussed will be decided later.
Judge Garrigues issued a decision in the Constantine and Caroline Reager versus Bernhardt Sieboldt case on Saturday. The proceedings featured Sieboldt’s son Charles testifying for the plaintiffs, with the judge granting relief on quiet title to certain water rights and directing the defendants’ attorney to draft a decree. The court also ordered City Engineer Shattuck to accompany and fix the right of way on the disputed property.

Severance Feb 18 William H Phillips a pioneer ranchman aged 69 died at the home of his son Joe one mile west of Severance He had lived in Colorado forty years He is survived by four children three sons and a daughter Two sons and the daughter reside in Denver No funeral arrangements have yet been made
W H Gill died Thursday in Denver after a brief illness. Funeral arrangements were pending at the Gill Funeral Home, with relatives invited to attend.
Eaton and family depart from the Wyatt district to establish a new home in Nebraska. Residents here regret their move as they have been well known and liked by many friends.
In LaSalle on Monday afternoon, contractor iny, 18, was thrown from a buggy as a passing motorcycle frightened the horse. He sustained hip and back injuries and was bruised and badly shaken.
Washington's birthday was celebrated in Greeley and Weld County schools with programs honoring the holiday and Lincoln's birthday. Judge J B Garrigues spoke on Patriotism and Good Citizenship at Greeley High School as students performed across grades. In Weld County communities reports described strong programs, urging honesty and lawful conduct among youth. An elaborate program was planned for the new high school building dedication that evening.
A salvo of eighty eight signatures triggers a re submission of the Evans saloon question. The petition, filed with the City Clerk, calls a local option vote to decide if the saloon will be reestablished. The law requires forty percent of last election voters in Evans. spring turnout was light at about 175. The collected signatures exceed half of the spring vote and reach about thirty one and a half percent of the total polled.

Stephen Parker, nephew of Mrs. W. B. Culver and Mrs. Ellen Ouder Kirk of Greeley, was struck and killed by an automobile in Tula, Okla. He lived in Paw Paw, Illinois, and was traveling with his father and brother on a business trip when the accident happened as he ran across the street to retrieve his hat during a dust storm.

The first argued that anticipation brings more pleasure than realization and the second claimed women's gossip harms a community more than tobacco use. Special to the Daily Tribune reports the Ladies' Aid society cleared 80 dollars at the lunch during the Lowry sale Saturday in Ault. The Lowrys plan to move into town for a month before moving to the western slope to pursue fruit farming.
More than a thousand oak ties have been brought into Greeley to be used by the Colorado and Southern road in replacing five miles of track between Windsor and Greeley. Rails are being run into the city and construction on the new lines is to start soon.
Federal Judge Lewis in Denver ruled that Union Pacific had lost the 400 foot right of way through Greeley and now holds only a 100 foot right of way. The decision favors Greeley and a final ruling is expected within days as the case proceeds to appeal.
