The Delta column notes farmers working hard gathering beets, visit from Hoke of Denver, Ben Robb recovering from pneumonia, Von Rosenburg and Charley touring Old Mexico, Grace Jenkins dangerously ill possibly from poisoned canned corn, Mrs. Small en route to Fort Morgan for Christmas, a wagon runaway injuring none, and a neighbor quilting party hosted by Mrs. J. Waite with local guests enjoying a lively gathering.
Mrs C C Kersey and G C Pease are listed as sick with la grippe. Several residents travel to Denver and Longmont for shopping visits while others return from trips. Christmas vacation closes schools from December 24 to January 6 1908. Local commerce expands as S F Hunts bakery nears completion the only shop between Greeley and Brighton. A turkey dinner at Birkle hall by the Ladies Aid proves financially successful with a quilt and aprons offered for sale.
Evans John Herriott transacts in Denver. Bass Tennant of Kersey spent Sunday with home folks. A baby boy born to D W Warner last Thursday. Mrs W F Smith and daughter Della ill with grippe. John Brubaker returns to Monte Vista Soldiers Home briefly. Ray Berry injures arm falling while skating. Dr Horton set the fracture. Thieves steal candies and fruit from a car in Evans freight yard Sunday night. Mr Gente and Aanashtass 128 Dan.
Miss Edna McKee of Denver visits Lone Tree for Christmas. Mrs. Elmer Hagar and Miss Myrtle Baldridge recently left Brown school due to ill health. Eugene Briggs sails to Missouri after months with brothers. A farewell party honors Pollocks and Jeffries who move to Greeley and Missouri respectively.
Eaton society items list meetings and visits from Albert Eaton and others. Local families entertain guests, a 240 pound dressed sheep appears in a market window, and pay day at Eaton sugar factory totals sixteen thousand dollars. Miss Ethel Cowley and Perry Evans wed at the bride’s sister home with Rev. Cooper officiating and left for a brief wedding trip. Edythe Ballegoin married ER O Banks at her mother’s home with Rev. Cooper. the couple will reside in Loveland.
Mrs. A. B. Willis has been sick for some time. Robert Barber returns home to help with the silo. D. H. Barber and A. Drake visited the capital city last week. Miss Lucy Carlson is home from Denver for the holidays with her cousin. Ben and Bluford Landrum visited Mrs. Dena Whitman in Ashton district, Sheridan, Ore. Mrs. John Moody hosted the Girls Sewing club on December 19 with a dainty lunch by the hostesses and her daughter Miss Ella.
Mrs. Fred Landon came back from a brief Denver trip Friday accompanying her daughter Mrs. Claud Whitman on the rest of her journey to Oregon after several months away. Miss Eva Boyd of Glencoe Wisconsin and Marie Moody of Greeley visit John Moody. Oscar Moody has been away with his lunch wagon at sales. Edna Barber’s 18th birthday was celebrated at her home with about eighteen friends playing games and sharing refreshments. partners for supper were arranged by resolving anagrams of ladies names.
