Weld County Sheep Stock Reaches Near Two Hundred Thousand

A Tribune compiled report shows Weld County sheep feeding remains a major industry with about 196 000 head fed locally and another 5 000 scattered, totaling just over 200 000 animals. Beet pulp remains the main diet, with 150 000 head fed near six northern Colorado sugar factories and 60 000 further feeder stock around Greenley Eaton and Windftt. Shipments have begun as stock moves into the region, including 3 000 head fed on potato pulp at the Starch Factory. The list names towns and many cattle outfits, with Weld Land & Cattle Co among the notable providers.

Beet Growers Association Forms Local LaGrange Branch

In LaGrange district farmers met at the school house and organized a local beet growers association. John McGill chaired the meeting with John G. Hall as secretary. A Loveland was chosen delegate to the state Denver meeting. The group demands $5 a ton for beets, semi monthly payments, and that frosted beets not be rejected if reasonable care was used. Another meeting was set for this evening.

Greeley District Produce Values Near Five Million

Analysis estimates Weld county crops and livestock will total about five million dollars this year. Sugar beets top one and a half million, potatoes about two and a half million, with sheep and lambs on feed near one million. Added in are fifty thousand for call potatoes and one hundred thousand for cabbage and onions.

Eight couples win court freeing marriages in district court

Judge Garrigues presided Saturday morning as eight couples sought to end marriages. Each case took about an hour and a quarter to hear with prizes awarded to W. A. Howard from Josephine I. Howard for cruelty, Rosine A. Becker from L. H. Becker for desertion, Laura J. Foster from William D. Foster for cruelty, and Fred Eggleston from Eliza Eggleston for statutory grounds.
