Boy Drowns After Ice Breaks at Rosling Reservoir
Eleven year old Willie Hopkins, son of Mrs Lida Hopkins, drowned while skating with John Neutze at a reservoir north of town. Open water near the seepage stream and rotten ice caused Willie to fall through. Neutze and rescuers struggled to reach him but the ice broke again. Mrs S A Bradfield aided with a rope line to save the others, but Willie’s body was recovered later by Coroner Macy.
