Barley Proves Strong Crop Across Colorado Altitudes
Barley thrives in Colorado, maturing in short seasons and dry lands. Plains yields reach 15 to 40 bushels per acre, higher in irrigated areas with 50 to 100 bushels. Colorado leads eastern states in five year average barley yields, with 1907 figures showing competitive per acre values. Barley offers cheap production and strong market returns, selling around 0.80 to 1.00 dollar per hundred pounds, and 1.35 in November 1908.
