Plans of vast railroad scheme spark Colorado rumors

Rumors circulate of a Denver to Seattle air line linked to the Denver Laramie and Pacific and Denver and Greeley lines. The Northwestern Land and Rail company, with officers from Kansas and Nebraska, is said to hold coal and iron leases. A Denver Laramie and Southwestern Railroad claims a ready route through Colorado, Wyoming, Oregon and Washington with C. S. Johnson as president and Col. R. H. Wayer as general manager. The secrecy and long planning stretch years. Davis sustained fatal injuries in a separate incident leaving a widow and seven children.

Worker Killed by Live Wire on Ninth Avenue Job

Laben Davis employed by the tere was instantly killed by an electric shock while at work on Ninth avenue last Friday about 10 o'clock in the forenoon. He was burned as 4,400 volts passed through his body before fellow workmen could lower him. Davis was reaching from a hole to cut an old wire when his knee touched a new live wire.

Public inquiry into Pierce freight wreck on Union Pacific

J. L. Bartlett and fellow Greeley merchants attended the Denver inquiry into the Pierce freight wreck. Investigators found rule violations by the engineer and brakemen. thirty eight cars rolled downhill unguarded before derailing near Pierce. Cash loss estimated at ten thousand dollars. New Empire reservoir completes major northern Colorado project

The final work on the New Empire reservoir in Weld and Morgan counties near Masters is finished under D A Camfield and the Bijou Irrigation district. The structure holds nearly two billion cubic feet, cost about 750000 dollars, and includes inlet and outlet canals. Engineer L L Stimson supervised for Camfield and C D Page for the district.

Sandstrom Introduces Local Claim Adjustment System

F O Sandstrom traveling freight agent of the C S and S recently visited Greeley and installed a new system allowing local agents to adjust claims up to $25. This change will speed settlements, reduce delays, and improve customer service by avoiding referrals to higher officials.

Good Volunteer Wheat by Angelo Armenteo

Angelo Armenteo, a Mexican farmer in the Hygiene district west of here, grew forty acres of wheat this year without sowing. The crop yielded about thirty bushels per acre as the wheat germinated thickly on an old field, and harvest shows a practically clear gain with no prior Gay's Work on the crop.

Thirty-Five Years A Birthday for Baker and Carpenter

Western Stock Show Premium List At Denver January 2025

The third annual western stock show in Denver announces a larger exhibit with national scope.
