Construction planned in days will extend forty miles from the mountains into Crow Creek country. The ditch will cross the Union Pacific near Nuno and irrigation will cover at least 75 000 acres of arid land. The Arbuckle Purcell Land Co sold the B S Pier eighty in Pleasant Valley to Wilson N Henderson of Grand Junction for 250 dollars an acre or 20000 dollars total. The crop rotation was one third beets and potatoes one third grain and one third alfalfa. Henderson previously owned a large farm near Bracewell and returned from the Grand Valley to buy the top eighty.

Empson packing plant seeks more acreage for peas tomatoes and cabbage

Last Friday Mesdames Edwin Starkey O D Neill R B Rugh and Miss Nora Rugh hosted a delightful afternoon party at Starkey's home in honor of Albertha Kelsey of Richmond Ind Margaret Rugh of Decatur Ill and Mabel Rugh of Cedar Rapids Ia. Other guests included Mesdames Pete Bastgen Atchison Kan and Stella Brilhart Pittsburg Penn. The rooms were perfumed with sweet peas used in decorations. The ladies spent the afternoon needlework and punch was served followed by elaborate refreshments. About sixty ladies attended.

The city water works line is almost finished with about 700 feet remaining. The water works committee has searched state lumber yards for suitable timber but has found none. They need less than a carload of lumber, with several carloads in transit. one report has come in since shipment. The project could be finished in a day or two after the first car arrives.

Explosion at Boulder cripples depot and city
An explosion at the Boulder freight depot last Saturday morning destroyed half a ton of giant powder. Two people were killed instantly and two more died later. Several houses were wrecked and store windows shattered. About thirty freight cars burned. Loss to rail and other interests estimated at 300000. Fire origin under investigation with indications of incendiary start.
