The GreaLey Cash Store advertises a three day sale on August 16 to 18 featuring remnants and specials from the dry goods line. After delays, inventory is ready, with Mr Mitchell in New York sourcing goods and shipments expected soon. All remnants will be sold at marked prices without regard to cost.
Dress goods remnants in all colors and styles offered for fall and winter. Prices range from 50 cents to 6.00 with items like 9 yards black cashmere at 6.00 and 6 yards Etamine at 3.00. Also 74 yards shudda cloth for 6.75 and sateens from 8 cents per yard. All summer goods included in final clearance.
A catalog of silk fabrics and dress patterns with Gros Grain silk pieces in Lyons brand 163 yards at 12.50 and 19 yards at 17.00. Best imported black Gros Grain 20 yards at 30.00. Per yard silk in black and colors 1.00. Sarahs lengths 2 to 20 yards priced 0.75. Dark green Jersey silk 14 yards at 14.00. Dress patterns of summer silk from 5 to 10.00. Gros Grain silk 100 yards at 0.85 per yard.
Fifteen pattern suits priced at ten dollars each, previously fifteen and eighteen dollars. Two black and white suits at three dollars, previously three seventy five. One black braided camelett suit for five dollars, previous price twelve dollars.
A catalog of fabrics and sewing notions lists chintz, twig lawns, shallies, velvets, laces, ribbons, and buttons. The sale highlights calico remnants, dress trimmings, shirting flannels, and Canton flannels attracting buyers to the event.
Local shop promotes embroidered flannels in white and colors, school and house dresses, table linens for homes and restaurants, plus summer wraps gloves shawls and gauze underwear at a third off. Parasols and fans half price and wool two ply carpet at 60 cents.
The Greecey Tribune offers fifty cents until after the election, with the Trisunr for six months and the Kansas City Journal included until November 15. Subscribers renewing their subscriptions will receive the Kansas City Journal free of charge until November 15.
Greeley reports visiting friends and delegations at county events with a slate of August 16th to 23rd activities. A. C. Peck and J. W. Inman are among travelers. concerts, talks, drills, and opera house shows headline community entertainment.
Correspondent notes Joseph Murray of Fort Collins spoke in Platteville last Friday. The audience found his talk entertaining though brief with two hours passing quickly. Local health conditions show some sickness countywide but Platteville remains busy and prosperous. Republican caucus delegates named E Johnson Jud Southland and A Stradley. Special correspondence mentions breaking wild horses after the Oregon herd arrived and ongoing local travel and settlement updates.
In Greeley precincts 7 and 21 the caucuses closed with total 321 votes, J L Brush 154 and J Max Clark 167. East Greeley No 21 saw Clark 190 Brush 158. Fort Morgan notes alfalfa market activity, Eastern harvest excursions begin the 21st, Dan Ott fined for headgate tampering, and a golden wedding celebration for Conrad Schaefer and spouse. Captain Howard opens new store in Fort Morgan with modern pharmacy setup.
The Cheyenne and Greeley clubs met in Greeley last Saturday August 11. The game started at three o clock with Rapp and Cannon for Cheyenne and Henderson and Johnson for Greeley. Greeley won easily in the eighth inning after the visiting pitcher disputed the umpire. The score by inning followed.
Sunday morning the Greeley baseball team and many friends left for Colorado Springs to visit Manitou and the Garden of the Gods. On Monday afternoon they played the Colorado Springs ball club and were defeated. Henderson and Johnson battery. Early innings saw loss of control, White pitched in later innings. Fielding weak at first, improved after the third inning. Final score 3 to 4.
A German farmer on the Box Elder in Fort Cousins Colorado was killed while closing a gate last night. The bolt struck about three quarters of a mile away and the shock traveled along the wire fence to the man whose hand rested on it. He died instantly and was a renter newly arrived in the area. his name could not be learned.
From the Reporter, C. A. Cobb visits Greeley while E. M. Perkins plans a large livery barn this fall. Miss Matie Barton visits Miss Anna Foote. J A Clark and wives and Mr Annis and wives, all of Greeley, were in town. Snow on Long's Peak visible from Loveland afterMonday night. B D Sanborn and J J Stevens return from a mountain trip. Sanborn shows a flaming red face from sun and high altitude.
The Buffalo Times criticizes sugar policy claiming the U S consumes sixteen times its production and taxes citizens $1 each to produce one sixteenth of intake. It notes Democratic reversal on free sugar and tariff support, warning Louisiana might swing to Republicans if tariffs vanish.
Edward Anderson transfers to Roswell Nelson in section 113 township 56 for 100 dollars. Thomas A Maxwell transfers lot 29 block 26 Evans for 250 dollars. Ephraim Heaton transfers to Mrs Lizzie Steele lot 1 block 81 Greeley for 100 dollars. Harriet D Hulett transfers lot 4 block 58 Greeley to Charles T Hulett for 300 dollars.
The Farmers' Mill Company at Berthoud plans to let the machinery contract for its new mill soon. It is expected to be one of the best mills in the West when in operation and show strong prospects for success. The Colorado Milling and Elevator Company employs about twenty men on its new elevator and will seek grain in two weeks. Wheat and corn in the area yield an average crop while hay and oats are lighter.
The next quarterly examination for teachers certificates in Weld County will be Friday August 31st in the court room at the Court House in Greeley. Candidates must arrive by nine in the morning and expect two days of work. County Superintendent A K Packard offers to arrange transportation for Erie Fort Morgan Grover or Raymer residents who cannot travel to Greeley if they notify in time.
