Godfrey Bottoms Farm and Kenmore Improvements
Crossing the Platte River between Evans and LaSalle, the Godfrey bottoms reveal a desolate river bed and gnarled cottonwoods. A. R. Godfrey established a 320 acre homestead, dug the Godfrey ditch, and grew large crops. The land later passed to Kenmore Farm & Stock Co under Clint Heath, who invested about 12,000 in barns, windmills, and water pumping systems for stock and domestic use.

Greeley High Wins State Title In Lopsided Match
Greeley High defeated Georgetown High 50 to 10 last Friday to clinch the state championship for the second consecutive year. Georgetown’s Sanburn scored all ten points for his team as Greeley dominated the game with Couzens Watson Wyatt Mosher and Roche scoring for the winners. The crowd was the largest ever seen at a Greeley basketball game, and Georgetown showed little strength beyond Sanburn.

Greeley baseball opened with a loud home crowd against the Denver Electrics, losing 6 to 0. Giddings pitched well despite little spring action, bolstered by Luman’s catching and Bolinger’s bat. Offerlee scored the first run for Greeley in the fifth. a defensive misplay by Center Fielder Smith in the eighth sealed the win for Denver.

Sheep Sale Brings Four Dollars Eighty Cents Per Hundred
The Greeley Sugar company shipped the last lot of old ewes fed on beet pulp, totaling about 2300 head, at 4.80 a hundred. It cost roughly 3 cents per sheep for pulp feed, with 900 pounds of feed per sheep, while 5,000 and 6,000 sheep remained fed at its Windsor and other pens under three men and two teams.
