New Mercury Lamp Installed at Ninth Street Tenth Avenue Intersection

A 250 watt mercury lamp was installed Saturday at the Ninth Street and Tenth Avenue junction. Richard Tatnan of the Junior Chamber urged residents to pass by and note the brighter lighting. The Home Gas and Electric Company installed the lamp with safety committee support, promising increased efficiency over prior 60 watt lamps. A local resident reported prowlers and a bicycle theft occurred nearby that afternoon.

Eaton Pioneer Resident Dies

Eaton pioneer resident Major 85 died Saturday morning after years of ill health. He was a former member of the First Baptist Church. Services will be held at 2 o clock at the First Baptist with interment at Raton cemetery. Armstrong's Funeral Home in charge. Mrs Saran Montemith wife of Dr A Monlamath of Fort Lupton died at St Likes hospital in Denver from a cerebral hemorrhage Saturday after a theater incident earlier in the week. Bakersfield report says George Palner Putnam a 52 year old Hollywood publisher and husband of the late Aiselta Earhart was found bound and gagged in an unfinished house after being kidnapped from his North Hollywood home. Kidnappers demanded the author’s wares of The Man Who Killed Hitler and hinted it would be healthier if he stopped printing. A statewide hunt for the pair and Putnam’s car was ordered. Two DOJ agents from Los Angeles were sent to question him but gave no details.
