Price of Steel Will Rise With Wage Increase
New York steel executives warn that any rise in industry wages will trigger higher steel prices. Thomas Patton of Republic Steel said management cannot grant a wage hike without a price increase. The comment came as negotiations between United Steelworkers and the industrys Big Three resumed after a one day recess.

Home Breakins and Thefts Reported to Police
Weekend police reports show a home breakin on Seventh street where a kitchen window was used. Suspect left toys, candy, a bowl of cherries, and an open fridge. back door used to depart. Multiple autos parked around the city suffered thefts including fender skirts from a Ford and tools from a Chevrolet pickup. Extra thefts from garages and cars totaled under $50 in several incidents. A fire call was also logged near Consumers Oil Co on Sixth Street.

Miami reports Flair James Shaefer suffered a paralytic stroke while sunbathing at Crandon Park Beach. Unable to move he lay for two days before picnickers found him Friday evening. He was hospitalized in serious condition with sunburn and the stroke.

21st Avenue Bridge Opens to Traffic Soon
City engineer George H. Fellows announced the Twenty‑first Avenue bridge between Ninth and Tenth streets should open to traffic by week’s end. Curbing and gravel base work from Tenth through Luther Park to the No 3 canal are nearly finished. The city will haul in base material this week, with no oiling planned. Tractor repairman fatally injured on Morgan county farm
Paul Good, 48, a Sterling tractor repairman, died after a tractor accident on the Scott Wolleyer farm near Snyder in northeast Morgan county. Good reportedly attempted to start a tractor in gear and was crushed, then pulled under the rear wheel. He was taken to Sterling mortuary.
