A ranch hand and a farmer's wife were stopped by police while eloping, with ARP arrest cited as the outcome. Officials reported the incident occurred in a rural area and involved a couple seeking privacy away from their families.
Cora McElravy and William McCullough were taken into custody in Greeley on a statutory charge after eloping with four of McElravy’s children from a farm near Ault. The husband C. H. McElravy pursued, the couple and a frightened McCullough were paraded to the police station. He was later injure jumping a train home. divorce prospects loom, with cruelty alleged.
Jane B. Huggins and her sister from Littleton join the new arrivals at the summer institute hosted by the Normal school.
Miss Virginia Froelick has returned from a short trip to Colorado Springs. Her visit included tours and brief leisure activities before resuming her schedule.
Mrs. 8. A Reeves and Mrs. Arthur Sheppard of Trinidad argue they are children of Edward Hegan the Windsor hermit who died in May 1910. A ruling by Judge Bradfield requires stronger proof to share the nearly $10,000 estate left by Hegan known as Dutch Ed after unsatisfied claims from Lizzie Schmidt and two daughters.
Miss Zoe Moore and Charles Burke were seriously injured Sunday afternoon when a runaway rig crashed at the corner of Ninth Street and Ninth Avenue in front of Hallett Henderson drug store. They were thrown from the rig. Moore was unconscious and Burke suffered a double arm fracture while Moore was thought to be internally injured.
City National Bank opened its doors for business this morning in the Camfield Trust building. Officers, all prominent Greeley businessmen, reported a satisfactory first day. A public visit is invited next Thursday evening, with the 460 light welcome arch planned to illuminate for the first time during the event.
The Colorado Christian Missionary society holds its two day state convention starting tomorrow, with plans to send delegates to the national Portland conference. Dr A C Shelton a Tibetan medical missionary will discuss work on the world’s roof. A special train chartered by R A Long will pass through Denver and Greeley June 29 and 20 to collect attendees.
Grand Junction reports the Atkinson reservoir burst yesterday morning sending a cannon like roar. The 26 000 acre foot body of water caused property damage estimated between 75 000 and 100 000 dollars. County Commissioner Chairman Thomas Dwyer was at the dam with a party, preventing greater loss of life.
T. B. Young of Kersey was a Sunday visitor in Greeley, spending the day in the city and calling on local residents.

A violent acetylene gas explosion at the Stanley hotel in Estes Park Colo wrecked the west wing killing no one and injuring several employees including head chambermaid Elizabeth Wilson who was hurled from the second floor to the dining room and hospital bound. Manager Alfred Lamborn said repairs would be swift and guests would be accommodated at Stanley manor.
Reports indicate a potato shortage across southern states with Texas facing growing hunger concerns. Farmers note limited supply driving prices upward while aid agencies seek relief and public response intensifies.
Houston, June 26. Potato dealers fear a famine as prices rise from 60 to 70 cents early season to 1.25 to 1.60 at loading points with bets on $2 per bushel. California supplies entering at $2, northern crop fair but slow to move, leaving no alternative but high prices until other sources open.

Mr and Mrs A H Romans and their daughter spent Sunday in the city returning to Fort Collins this morning.

Gormley allowed nine hits with five strikeouts as the Spuds surged late, backed by Haller’s three base hit and a home run from Haller in the decisive innings. The crowd was large and the play featured ragged fielding and momentum shifts throughout.
A four year old girl woke frightened and refused contact after her mother, a known Greeley resident, entered with a complexion mask on. The mother’s light revealing the mask caused a late night scene and took hours to calm the child.
The school board paused the high school contract after accepting George Elliott of Greeley at 128500, a bid well below rivals, but Elliott then said a 4500 error undermines his figures. F M Barber of Greeley is next lowest and likely to receive the contract if Elliott declines. The board will reconsider soon.

Juan Fernez and Samuel Menada, Mexican workers at the Mc Grew reservoir, were injured by falling rock during blasting. Fernez suffers head injuries with loss of eyesight expected, while Menada sustained broken legs and minor head injuries and was taken to Denver hospital.
