Public Schools as Bulwark of Democracy Debate
Dr. Georg Wy Wrndler told the Denver Chamber of Commerce that public schools in America defend democracy by remaining decentralized and independent from centralized control. He warned centralized education in Europe and Asia led to militarized youth and dictatorship, contrasting it with American systems that foster freedom and independence. He warned that collaboration between elites and big business could threaten democratic governance without strong youth backing to resist fascist or communist movements.
