Council members refused to call a special election on abandoning the city manager form after City Attorney Karowsky ruled the petition premature and short of required signatures. He cited six year operating period intent and estimated 10 735 registered voters to determine petition validity.
Measles and several communicable diseases were recorded in May by the county health department. In Greeley the counts included measles 17 cases, mumps 42, tuberculosis 2, rheumatic fever 1, scarlet fever 1, whooping cough 1, diphtheria 0, diphtheria-tetanus 0, influenza 14, infectious hepatitis 1, streptococcal infections 18, and other listed illnesses with varying percentages.
Polio immunization clinics are planned from 9 to 1 Friday at the Weld County Health Department with additional sessions in Fort Lupton and Hoenn. Children six months through nineteen are invited. unaccompanied minors require written permission. Over one thousand thirty four children were vaccinated at the Hanewich clinic on Monday. a second dose is offered at the same time and place on June 17.
City council discussed placing a charter convention question on the ballot at the November election. US detonated a small nuclear device from a balloon 40 feet above Yucca Flat Nevada during the summer test series. The 4:06 a.m. explosion near Las Vegas was seen as a brief flash and a mushroom cloud rose above 1,000 feet. Dr. Gerald W Johnson of Livermore said the test was a success from a technical view. Observers at Angel's Peak reported two flashes and a small fireball, with speculation balloon ignition caused the second flash. The balloon, 67 feet diameter, was tethered by four cables and equipped with safety devices to prevent escape.
New York bound, a grandson of former president Harry S Truman was delivered by Caesarean section in New York. The full term baby and mother, Mart y Truman, are reported doing fine. Clifton Daniel, the baby’s uncle by marriage, and Daniel’s wife Margaret Truman were among those informed at Independence Missouri.
Funeral services for Mrs Ida Florener Flood of 1201 Eighth Street will be held Thursday morning at o'clock from Trinity Episcopal Church with interment at Lian Grove.

The plan includes 17 eight inch speakers with 12 in the auditorium and five in foyer hall and two dressing rooms, with main auditorium and gallery speakers operable separately and outside speakers switchable.
