Den Ver-Greeley Valley Irrigation District Seeks Bond Vote

Petition filed with the county clerk declares the Den ver Greeley valley irrigation district ready to vote bonds and build ditches to bring water from Standiey Lake. Directors expanded the area to about 25 000 acres covering one fourth of land between Brighton and Kersey and Platteville to Box Elder, with water expected on all land next year.

Bonded man freed on pledge to stay away from Hill home

Samuel Jackson, first husband of Mrs Hill, now wed to old man Hill near Nunn, was released on $200 bonds this morning. He must remain away from Hill’s home. authorities may press charges if he breaches terms. District attorney contemplates conservator for the elderly man’s affairs. J. J. Leach of near Nunn signed the bond and claimed a quarter section in the county.

Tragic Accidental Shooting Claims 11 Year Old

Laura Parker 11 of Grover Wyoming died from a bullet wound system attributed to an accidental shooting by her brother. The incident occurred Sunday morning as the family awaited her recovery before the turn for the worse led to death. The Parker family is well known in Grover and Hazel Morris, longtime Tribune correspondent, was connected to the case.

Corner lumber yard buildings moved for tenements

The three old buildings that stood at Neill and Ward's lumber yard were moved to the east side near Sixth Street and the river to be remodeled for tenements. The yard is being cleared of debris and the vacant lot will greatly improve that city area, even before the new trust building rises.

Gold Coin Transfer Ends at Denver Mint

The Denver mint receives $7.5 million in gold coin from San Francisco ending the transfer to the national storehouse. In vaults now lie $370 million in gold coin, including $50 million shipped since May 15. The shipments used Wells Fargo Express with secrecy and heavy guarding. The total weight exceeds 700 tons.

A Socialistic Colony Planned Near Crow Creek

Promoters from Greeley and Denver seek to establish a mutual benefit colony in a Crow Creek township. Members pay at least $2000 for a stock certificate granting a 99 year lease to 40 60 acre tracts with street orchard farming expected to yield large revenues. The plan includes townsite utilities funded by stock sales and shared profits among shareholders.

Normal High School Receives Annual Faculty Reception

Prof and Mrs Bullock entertained sixty senior class members and guests including the Normal high school faculty and Dr and Mrs Snyder at the Congregational church parlors. A burlesque track meet divided guests into three sections representing the Normal high school Agricultural college and State University with seventy five in attendance.

Waters Declined Missouri Offer for Kansas College Presidency

May Not Get Waters reports that Dean Henry J. Waters of Missouri is offered the presidency of Colorado Agriculture college in Manhattan Kansas at $7 000 annually. A board meeting is planned today to select a new president as Waters weighs the Kansas offer against a $5 000 yearly Colorado proposal and a residence.

Hughes entertains at Methodist church in Greeley

William W. Hughes of Boulder and Boys’ secretary of the Boulder YMCA presented an evening of readings and monologues at the Greeley Methodist church. The program included Pro and Con Thanatopsis with music by Ruby Rose and the Long Distance monologue, enjoyed by Trudy Cameron’s Sunday school class.

Memorial Day at Windsor featured a parade led by the G A R with families and school children, despite high winds. Nothing Doing in Weld District Court

In Weld county today a potential suit was dropped as 200 civil cases were ready for trial. One docketed case from Windsor was settled out of court after claims of duress over a deed to W F Grunkmeyer. Grunkmeyer returned the property and the court adjourned with no further cases scheduled.

Japanese Base Ball Team At Kersey Named Mikado

A Japanese contingent organized at Kersey played the local team on Sunday. The Japs, calling themselves The Mikado, fared poorly but showed potential as they learn the American game. One player was struck in the head and another left the field with an injury. The report notes promising material among the husky young athletes.
