Allott campaign violation suit asked dismissed
Denver AP motion to dismiss a suit charging Senator Gordon Allott with violating the Federal Election Campaign Act was filed in U S District Court. Floyd Haskell former Colorado state representative and defeated Allott in November filed the suit claiming donors names were not revealed for 177000 prior to the acts April 7 date. Judge Anderson heard preliminary arguments and noted Allott could delay replying.

No charges planned in Fort Sumner fatal bus crash
A district attorney in Tucumcari NM said there will be no criminal charges in the bus truck crash near Fort Sumner that killed 15. He cited no gross negligence by the truck driver and suggested the bridge and possible centerline crowding as contributing factors. The truck driver was Erby Wilmeth 59 of Clovis and the bus driver Jerry Estes 41 of San Antonio.

Second victim dies in Trinidad cafe shooting
In Trinidad Colorado a second man died from gunshot wounds after a Sunday cafe fight three miles south of town. Dale Van Matre 30 died of a head wound and Jack Tortorelli 26 died at the scene. Thomas Duran 30 faces first degree murder charges and Edward Ronney 28 faces first degree assault. Police say an argument at another cafe sparked the shooting.
